I've stayed at holiday inns all over the world, and I'm a rewards member. I like holiday inn in general because it's quite consistent, and you know what to expect. However, I was disappointed by my stay here. Do not recommend in terms of customer service. Pros: great breakfast-- plenty of warm food. Lots of variety and kitchen staff was so lovely. Location is good for a cheaper place to stay near the beach and only a 20 min drive to Port Clinton and the ferries to the islands. Cons: I found dead insects in my room. There were cobwebs and spiders near the AC unit. It was 100 degrees outside and the AC wouldn't go below 74-- it was pretty warm in the room. There were oil stains on my sheets, which was kind of gross. There was also noticeable dust in the corners and on the walls. The AC unit was disgusting with dust, spiderwebs, insects-- just gross. The daytime staff was very rude. I had requested a late checkout, which is free for reward members. I put a do not disturb sign on the door and, regardless, kept getting disturbed by hotel staff knocking on my door to check if I'm checking out. I had specifically stated that I was checking out at 2 pm, and I felt rushed and like I was a nuisance to staff. I was also told I would have to pay a late checkout fee which is false-- IHG rewards members do not pay fees for early check-in or late check-out. The woman was rude, and I was surprised at how I was spoken to and treated upon check- out-- condescending, short, and ill-tempered. That is not the way to treat someone who paid $200 to stay one night in your dusty hotel. Please take a note from your kitchen staff who treated everyone so pleasantly and with smiles-- as that is exemplary customer service.

Overall, meh. We didn't have a shower curtain, but this was rectified with a quick call to the desk. I know eveyone is trying to staff, but I'm not a fan of places that don't have cleaning available daily. Fresh towels, linens, and new soap/shampoo as well. If a hotel doesn't offer these, their room price should be significantly lower (10% to 20%) per night. A night pre-pandemic cost say $100. The room today costs that, if not more and services are far inferior. So outside of a room that wasn't turned down after the first night, the place was ok. Breakfast was hot and decent. The halls were quiet and it was close enough to our venu.

This is definitely an older hotel. The rooms could use a little extra TLC from the housekeeping staff. For example... fingerprints on the back of doors and door handles, on hairdryer. Calcium deposit on the shower head and clean the caulking in the shower. The sheets were extremely clean and the bed was comfortable. When you are passing through you can make do for the evening. The Front Desk agent Adrienne(?) is definitely an asset. Her customer service was amazing at checkin

Not horrible. But also not the best. A very average night. Sheets were clean and soft. Pillows fluffy. Breakfast was decent. Over all a very average hotel. Which doesn't sound great, but means it was pretty good.
