Roaming In My RV
Thank you City of Mackay. Beautifully cared for, shady area or open sun. Restrooms available but no utilities, no garbage collection. Free dump station barely a mile away at their Centennial Rest Area. Supposed to check in with camphost but she's rarely ever there.

Amazing place to ride. The city has placed history markers and signs describing the old buildings. The city is very ATV and off-road friendly allowing vehicles to ride on the roads.

We reserved two campsites for our big family. The camp host greeted us on arrival and made us feel welcome. The sites are large enough for big RVs and there are some drive through sites. I recommend reserving a site ahead but you can camp on a first come first serve basis. There is enough parking for ATVs and trailers too. We enjoyed the shade, picnic tables, fire rings, and ability to go on the mine tour directly from our campground on our ATVs. There are no hookups but there was a spigot nearby. City of Mackay has a dump station a few blocks away. I Highly recommend taking advantage of Mackay’s hospitality.

I stopped in to look at it June 2018. I found the campground to be nicely laid out and could accomodate quite a few campers. Mid-week there were about 3 sites taken and the grass needed to be mowed. However the entry sign stated that the campground was full. I couldn't even see any campers from there and could see a dozen empty sites. Later inquiry indicated that the entire campground had been reserved for a family reunion so the "full" sign was valid. Fortunately I had a Plan B campground in mind and didn't need to stay in Mackay so I moved on.
