Have not stopped calling me daily after twice being asked to be put on the do not call list.

Typical ambulance chaser law firm. They mislead people by telling them they will get rich if they sue for any reason. They get huge chunk of any settlement getting rich themselves by bankrupting companies and causing American workers to lose their jobs.

This law firm is co council with anther law firm. Their retainer clearly states one law firm receives 60% and the other law firm receives 40%. They have called me almost everyday asking if I've signed the documents. A rep even called saying I need to sign in order for them to discuss anything with me when they clearly already know I have a decent case. The rep stated by me signing doesn't "lock" me in a contract. I've been reading contracts for years. I know exactly how it should be worded. I'm smart enough to know signing a retainer places you in an agreement with that law firm, and I'm sure as heck would NOT sign for attorneys to receive 100%. What they tell you over the phone is no where near what their contract reads.

It was a great decision to be represented by Miller and Zois! Laura was professional, kind and a powerhouse! Laura made me feel like family and took a genuine concern regarding my case. Her attention to detail and outstanding representation during my trail made for a favorable judgement.

We are based in Maryland but we handle medical malpractice cases around the country. Most of the claims that we take outside of Maryland are birth injury claims. But you can always give us a call or fill out a contact form. Hopefully, we can help you but, if not, we may be able to direct you to someone who can.
This is a good question and one that we are commonly asked. It shoudl not take more than 30 days in most car accident and medical malpractice cases. But there are atypical circumstances that can drive both victims and personal injury lawyers mad. But you should expect at least a week or two. Many victims have unreasonable expectations about how long it should take to get their money after the case settles. Whose fault is that? Usually, it is the lawyer who fails to explain how the settlement process works to the client. We explain that while it may seem like just a simple matter of someone signing a check, it is more complicated than that. Most insuance companies require that they get a signed release before getting sending out a check. The key is that your lawyer needs to be doing everything jumanly possible to get your money to you as soon as possible. This is what Miller & Zois does.
Truck accident cases involving big 18-wheeler trucks are significantly different than regular car accident cases. Maryland has special laws that apply to trucks in accident cases. Commercial trucks are also subject to federal regulations regarding maintenance and safety features. This means that handling a truck accident case requires, at a minimum, a good understanding of Maryland’s commercial vehicle laws and the complex federal trucking regulations. Many trucks have “black box” data collection systems which can provide information on exactly how an accident occurred. Truck accidents often involve more significant physical injuries because massive 18-wheelers do a lot more damage than normal vehicles. Second, there is usually more insurance coverage, as truck drivers carry insurance with much higher policy limits and in some cases, you can also bring claims against the trucking company as well.
Damages consist of both economic damages (medical bills, lost wages) and non-economic damages (pain and suffering). Maryland law imposes a maximum cap on the amount of non-economic damages that can be awarded in medical malpractice cases. In 2019 the Maryland cap on non-economic damages for medical malpractice is $815,000. For wrongful death claims involving two or more survivors the cap is $1,018,750. [Note: revised higher in 2021.] Importantly, Maryland DOES NOT IMPOSE A CAP on economic damages. For medical malpractice cases, it is extremely important to develop strong evidence as to exactly what medical care the injuries will require over the plaintiff’s lifetime and how much that care will cost. Getting a life care plan prepared by an outside expert consultant is often a good way of showing evidence of expected future medical expenses. This is especially true in birth injury cases where the economic damages for medical care alone can easily run into the millions of dollars.
