Kind, compassionate, and a great listener! Brandi took the time to understand where I currently am with my nutrition and helped me fill in knowledge gaps. It is clear she is serious about her work and not interested in prescribing fad diets. The most impactful part of my meeting with Brandi was that she validated me and my food fears in the most non-judgmental way. I felt safe sharing about my food insecurities and history because of her inviting presence. We worked together to build a sustainable plan moving forward with plans to check in down the line and make adjustments as needed.

Having never worked with a dietitian before, I didn’t quite know what to expect for my Telehealth session with Brandi. She immediately made me feel at ease and worked with me to come up with some ideas on how I can better plan for meals and what to incorporate in them to maximize nutrition. Brandi was very open to my questions and knowledgeable. She even followed up with some further resources for me. I would highly recommend a session with Brandi to help navigate the overwhelming amount of info on diets and meal planning. Thank you so much Brandi!

On March 24, 2022. l met with Brandi Almario a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to direct me on how l could improve my eating and exercise habits, so l could continue my goals to be fit emotionally, mentally, socially and physically by a professional nutritionist. Brandi, first asked me what were my goals and after l shared my goals, she offered a plan that l could follow. She used pictures, charts, and handouts to explain to me the power of taking care of your body, mind, and spirit. She helped me to understand about nutrition more than l have ever had in one one hour. She let me know what l was doing right and made some suggestion on how eating in portions using a hand in different catagories of foods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Brandi shared with me the important of water and staying away from drinks that were not healthy. Finally, she suggested some meals that would help me to balance what l eat, and she sent me some recipies that were simple enough for me to follow after l left my appointment. I would recommend Brandi with a five star rating for her knowledge and ability to share what she knew in a way that l could clearly understand what she said when l left my appointment. To all of you who are serious about their health and well being in a wholistic way, l would suggest that make a reservation to either visit Brandi vitually or in person at A Stronger Tommorow. You will not be disappointed I guarantee it through my experience.

My suggestions are based on scientific research. I don’t just read one book, I read multiple research articles to find out the best suggestions and what works well.

What is the difference between a Dietitian and a Nutritionist?

The term Dietitian and Nutritionist are often used interchangeably. In the state of North Carolina, Dietitians need to be licensed by the state. To do this, the professional needs to obtain an accredited degree and graduate from a dietetic internship. After graduation of the internship, the professional can sit for the Registered Dietitian exam. Once they have passed the exam, then they can apply for a license in North Carolina. In North Carolina, you can only call yourself a Dietitian or Nutritionist if you have gone through the licensing process. The license is required to provide any medical nutrition therapy. Other states have different qualifications and may have Dietitians and Nutritionists. I am proud to say I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist. I have a degree from an accredited program, I graduated with 1200 hours of a dietetic internship, I passed the Registered Dietitian exam and I am licensed with the state of North Carolina.

Yes for Dietitian services only, please contact your insurance company and verify your benefits. Here are a few questions to ask your insurance company. 1. Does my plan cover nutrition counseling? (CPT codes 97802 and 97803) 2. Are there any restricted diagnoses? 3. Do I need a referral or prior authorization? 4. Is nutrition counseling covered via telehealth (virtual)? 5. How many visits are covered? 6. Do I have a deductible to meet before insurance pays? Any copays?
