Beautiful, well kept picnic areas and camp sites. Beautiful drive too! $5 fee

A local neighbor brought me to this campground to show off its beauty. Nature is beautiful without man's input. But, as far as being kept up for a new visitor to view, the campground was lacking. There were no spring flowers or clean water brightening the area we visited. Perhaps, local scouts or volunteers could help bring the area to shine as it did in the "old days." Lots of dead trees and rusted railings could use a little TLC. Otherwise, nature will overtake the campgrounds.

Clear springs was a big part of my childhood with so many good memories here. Things have changed a lot since those days but going there after so many years was still like seeing an old friend. The nostalgia and positive energy are still there. It is still a beautiful place and very peaceful. I will be spending a bit more time visiting this dear old family friend.

Growing up this was a wonderful place but not now. The swimming hole has a tree in it and the bridge on the walk way is gone. There are lots of trees in the lake and lots of snakes.

You cannot reserve camp/RV sites here. First come first served. Only 22 camp/RV sites
No. RV & tent sites only
Not really, they must be on a leash in the campground. Other than that its Okay.
They're usually open from March through September but we went today 5/5/19 and they have no swimming signs posted in swimming area and at front entrance...
The camp ground is probably open to whatever wants to use it, but there won't be anyone around to collect trash, or clean the rest rooms. Don't bother looking on the NFS web site for info. It is not being updated during the government shut down. You could try calling the Homochitto Ranger District office but I don't think there will be anyone there to take your call as they have all been furloughed.
They do not take reservations for any sites, including primitive. It is first come, first serve. The primitive area is huge, and I have never seen it even close to halfway filled up though.
If you can't swim in the water not sure I would eat the fish. My guess would be that you do need a license. Park ranger is very much on patrol.
No just 2 weeks at a time
Yes, they do. There is several sites with hook ups in the main camping area. There is also a separate primitive campground area separate.
