My grandmother recently used Kindred Hospice. Aside from the social worker & CNA who were personable, professional & caring, we did not have a good experience. Stephanie Fishburn was her first RN. We were assured she was "their very best".... The first day she came over, she walked in without a mask or gloves, did not wash her hands or use hand sanitizer. Took her over 20mins to realize she forgot them & claimed this "happened all the time". Before she left I asked about Thanksgiving. If she thought we should take any measures other than hand washing & testing, like face masks, etc, to ensure my grandmother was as safe as possible. (We knew this would be her last holiday season, so foregoing family gatherings was simply not an option in my Nana's eyes.) Stephanie Fishburn flat out said "It doesn't really matter if she gets covid at this point"...... Really? It doesn't matter?! It doesn't matter if an elderly woman dying of cancer catches a deadly virus & dies sooner than she was already going to, in more agony?? Really?! It doesn't matter if she's forced into an E.R & dies alone?!?! Really?? It doesn't matter?? My Nana had tears in her eyes after Stephanie Fishburn made that statement.. Before she left she attempted to shake everyones hand, which you're NOT supposed to do in these times, as a clear safety precaution. She made a joke saying "this is me taking more safety precautions", with an eye roll & a smirk. I refused to shake her hand.. As someone who works in Healthcare I can assure you this callous attitude towards a patient is absolutely unprofessional & unacceptable. She never apologized to my grandmother, not even after being confronted about her actions. When my Nana passed I called Kindreds after hours number. A nurse came shortly after midnight. She was told what funeral home to call. Repeatedly. She called the wrong one.. & for over FOUR HOURS my family sat with my Nana's dead body waiting for the funeral home until this individual (who was sitting in her car on her phone most of that time!) realized she'd "made a mistake". Her excuse was she "usually works for the Mineral Wells area & automatically called their funeral home." Really, lady?? She barely apologized, as if she didn't want to admit fault.. The whole experience was awful. I will NEVER forget, let alone forgive this company. They do NOT deserve it. I will tell anyone who's thinking of hiring hospice to stay far, FAR away from Kindred Hospice. Your loved ones deserve better. They deserve nurses who care enough to do their jobs correctly in every way. Nurses whos hearts have swelled with compassion & empathy for their patients over the years, not callous indifference. Be smarter than we were. For the sake of your loved one, choose a different company.

Can We Arrange For Occasional Transportation To Doctors’ Appointments?

CenterWell Home Health | Oct 11, 2021

Transportation, especially to medical appointments and procedures, is a popular home care service. It can often be arranged in a few hours, but the more notice given is always better. A regular planned schedule can be set up, or the caregiver can be used on an "as needed" basis.

How Are Caregiver Scheduling And Reliability Managed?

CenterWell Home Health | Oct 11, 2021
CenterWell Home Health | Oct 11, 2021

Our agency uses a phone-in time card system that alerts the scheduling supervisor if someone does not check in at the appointed time for any unforeseen reason, so that a supervisor can immediately come by to care for a client until the caregiver arrives or a replacement is arranged. This also guarantees that clients are accurately billed for the actual hours worked. It is one of the major advantages of working with an agency, the assurance and peace-of-mind that back-up staffing is an integral part of the service, especially for frail seniors.

Do You Provide Caregivers For Someone In An Assisted Living Facility?

CenterWell Home Health | Oct 11, 2021
CenterWell Home Health | Oct 11, 2021

Yes, we do. We first arrange a meeting with the family to conduct a thorough assessment and develop a plan of care. This is not only to fully understand what activities or senior care services are needed, but also to get a sense of what kind of personality might best suit him or her. After this is completed, we will match the person with a caregiver. If at any time you would like to change your caregiver, this can easily be arranged.

What COVID-19 precautions are the home care workers required to take?

CenterWell Home Health | Oct 11, 2021
CenterWell Home Health | Oct 11, 2021

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is presenting significant challenges for all of us, but especially older adults and people with chronic conditions who are most vulnerable to the virus. Our in-home care makes it possible for older adults to heed the CDC’s recommendation for social distancing while continuing to receive the care they need to manage existing medical conditions. We strongly believe that the care we deliver is lower risk than the delivery of care in other settings, where patients are more likely to be exposed. And in-home care can help prevent unnecessary hospitalizations. We are taking every possible precaution to protect our patients, their caregivers and our clinicians from the spread of the virus: · Every in-home clinician must pass a daily health screening before being approved for patient visits · We have restricted access to our branch locations for visitors, as well as clinicians to minimize our exposure to COVID-19 · We are employing the use of telehealth technology when appropriate · We are conducting risk assessments on every patient who is referred to our service or currently on our service · We require personal protective equipment when treating patients with confirmed positive COVID-19 tests and those under home monitoring for coronavirus · We have provided updated training on infectious disease control to all of our employees, including the proper use of protective equipment · We’ve established a multi-disciplinary task force to coordinate and lead our efforts related to COVID-19 Kindred at Home is also working in partnership with local, state and federal governments—as well as other home health agencies—to devise and promote industry-wide solutions to this growing health crisis. You can count on us to remain vigilant during this challenging time. We are 100% committed to you and your loved ones.
