Beautiful beach and easy to get to.

We were at the beach at the end of March before the start of high season in which begins in April. Dogs are allowed until April 1st. It is misleading to have this listed as a public beach, because it is limited to those people staying at the Shipyard Plantation resort and the hotel within the Shipyard resort, the Sonesta. It's a lovely flat beach lovely sand. The waves seem to be small for the most part and safe for small children. There is a lifeguard there even in the off-season. The day we were there the water was still too cool for swimming, but there were people playing in the waves. Lots of children playing on the sand and people walking and riding bikes on the hard part of the sand. Lovely clean place with clean bathrooms. Highly recommend if you were staying anywhere in the Shipyard plantation complex.

Nice dog friendly beach, though we are visiting in September after labor day. So check, because I do think there are dates when dogs are not allowed. I just hope that people keep it clean, and pick up after themselves.

Great place to relax! Bathrooms are a convenient short walk nearby the beach area. There is a nearby place to get snacks and refreshments. The beach is clean and well maintained with chairs and umbrellas available to rent. The beach is not overly crowded and is easy to find a place to relax and take in the environment. I definitely recommend this place!
