In 1706, seven ministers led by Francis Makemie established the first presbytery in North America, the Presbytery of Philadelphia. The presbytery was primarily created to promote fellowship and discipline among its members and only gradually developed into a governing body. This according to: Bradley J. Longfield, (2013). Their Thursday hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. I'm not an employee, just a visiting researcher, but as posted on their front door and on the website, their hours are 9-5 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Wedneaday they open at 12 noon and close at 7 p.m.
