Mark and his staff are very professional. Always able to keep us on track, open with easy communication with what he needed from us. One year we needed an extension and he was easily able to navigate all of that with us. If you are looking for a great accountant for taxes or for your business I highly recommend BuxMont Accountng!

Amazing experience! Mark not only completed my federal return and multiple state returns to maximize my refund, but he went back several years and found that I had overpaid and was able to get me additional money back! The process was so easy and everything was done electronically and that saved a ton of time for us. I highly recommend Mark and his services for personal and professional services.

Mark was great. Was able to answer all of our questions. We knew we would owe but he managed to make it painless and a whole lot less than what we thought! We will definitely be using him again next year for our taxes!

I had a great experience using BuxMont Accounting - very quick on scheduling an appointment, flexible on schedule and even met with me on a Saturday. The process was quick and painless, Mark and Barb were very pleasant to deal with. Mark was very informative, friendly, and was able to find opportunities for additional returns that paid for his services multiple times over. I would strongly recommend.

Questions & Answers

In April sold an investment property. Looking to purchase another to avoid a hit on capital gains for 2021. Does new property have to be more in value than prior one?

For a 1031 exchange, the value of the replacement property needs to be the same or higher than the original property in order to fully defer the taxable gains. Other things to note for 1031 exchanges are the requirement to use a qualified intermediary to hold the funds from the sale, and the strict timelines which require you to identify a replacement property within 45 days. PA does not allow for 1031 exchanges, so the gain is still immediately taxed for PA purposes and you end up with two different cost bases for the new property.

I’m looking for an accountant that is familiar with the trucking industry and is familiar with the tax structure of an owner operator. I plan on buying a truck this year and would love to find someone to handle my 1099 taxes State and Local also.
