Terrible service. Avoid this place at any cost.

I called with questions about the veteran property tax exemption and Sophie was helpful regarding new application time period since it changed this year. The only problem or pain is the wait period on the phone which is similar to when I’m waiting for customer service with any comcast or utility company anyway. Today was about a 25 minute wait but last month I waited about 45 minutes then the line disconnected. I called back and waited another hour then hung up myself since I had stuff to do. Bottom line, always expect for the worst wait time like an hour so you’re prepared.

NOBODY ANSWERS THE PHONE - EVER. ALL automated, transfer a call to a representative and then SILENCE.. NOTHING.. Most unhelpful place EVER in the history of the universe.
Steven Dornbusch
Are we talking about the same office? 2 representatives went the extra mile when I missed a due date by a couple weeks. Totally professional follow-up; fixed in a matter of days.

Yes.you would qualify for a senior exemption.however the forms for 2019 taxes won't be available until February of 2020. Contact. The office then.
Through the recorders office
The two big ones are the senior homeowner's exemption and the senior freeze exemption.
Recorder of deeds does ownership
Please check with Record of Deed's Office
Senior examption is missing in my bill?
Go to cookcountyassessor.com to look up pin number.once you have that. Contact recorder of deeds.that will show you who name is on the deed.
Get the pin number on the cookcountyassessor.com then contact recorder of deeds to see who name is on the deed.
Generally, the latest an exemption application can be submitted is mid-April, but it should be submitted in January - February. If you miss the deadline, you could get a refund by doing a certificate of error.

Look on your tax BILL. You are not addressing the assessor with your question here.
Get an appraisal and u can possibly get a reduction
You can contact a property tax attorney. We usually charge on a contingency, which means you pay nothing upfront and nothing if we lose. If we win, you pay a portion of the savings.
You need to go to the cook county assers office in downtown
You can go online and submit your application and download your documents. Just follow the instructions and if you have questions just call the office.
Don't no
They have real estate records in the basement at the County building.
Just go to the assessors office and get a copy
No. As long as one homeowner is 65, uses the property as a primary residence, and is responsible for the taxes, that homeowner qualifies.
Deductions are only taken off the second installment bill. The first bill, by law, is 55% of your tax bill last year.
The correction will probably take in effect on the 2nd installment. Otherwise depending on when the appeal was granted they can still send you a corrected bill for 1st installment. Still pay the bill so your not late.
You'll just have to reapply using the correct form and supporting documents
Yes. Go to the cook county treasurer's website
That's done thru the treasurer
That would be the Recorder of Deeds.
Go to the cook county treasurer website. You can search by ADDRESS OR PIN of any property. It will let you know who the tax bill is registered to. The person paying the taxes is almost always THE OWNER.
Look up. Pin number on assessor website. Then contact recorder. Of deeds to see whose name is. On the deed.
You can find out by searching the property on the Cook County recorders website
Yes there is an Exemption for Veterans and Disabled Veterans both can be found on the Assessor's website
Correct. That difference will result in you paying less in property taxes.
You can see your latest tax bill at the cook county treasurer's website.
Yes. My law office handles property tax appeals in cook county.
You can go to assessor website and search by address if you know it. If you dont know it, there is a link on assessor website to go to the GIS map, its nicknamed cook county viewer. You can search your address and change to satellite view to figure out the exact parcel number. Once that's confirmed, you can look up owner information on recorder of deed website. If the property is located in a blighted neighborhood and the city owns it, it may qualify for some redevelopment programs. Hope this helps.
Recorder of deeds will tell you
Base it on the senior's income.
The homeowner exemption has no age limit. The senior homeowner's exemption are people age 65+.
Lookup the parcel number via assessor website and then lookup parcel number on recorder of deed website. There you can find the most recent deed with it's legal description.
The ownership name
Check with the Recorder of Deeds Office.
Not sure what you mean by assessment date? Lien date is January 1, 2018 but Cook County pays RE taxes in arrears. So in 2018 you'll be paying 2017 taxes. The notice of value date and appeal deadline dates vary depending on township. Revaluation occurs on triennial bases.
It could take up to maybe 3 months or less.
No, you would want to file that in person.
No. If you qualify for the reduction, you will not have to pay back the savings.
The treasurer's office allows you to view your latest tax bill. Check their website.
No. They are 2 separate exemptions, however the senior freeze app will take care of all other exemptions.
Yes. There is a senior homeowner exemption. You must apply each year too receive it.
