I went without an appointment on a weekday around 3pm. I was in and out within 45min. They do have a kiosk that offers many services (including tags) that I just walk up to, tap a few prompts in the touch screen, swipe your card ( dont remember if cash was accepted) and done! And yes when you go in they will issue a temporary drivers liscene until the new one comes in the mail. Its a small form but is only for driving and not a vault form of ID

You can not use a California I d. Card as drivers license. If you need to renew you would go to the office.

The only person who knows how to get it are the people who work for the DMV I mean if they have your thumb print on file that should the good enough but I was told I needed to get a copy of my birth certificate and two pieces of mail to profe of recedence

Unless your paperwork states that you are required to take the written test and vision test, you should be able to renew online.

Just go into DMV.gov.ca. You can do all of that there.

You can do si online but I like to call the number that the automated service gives you and speak to a live person amd schedule appt that way.

Dave......I went today in person to renew my drivers license. No appointment necessary. As far as scheduling for driving tests behind the wheel, i believe no new appointments are being given. You can walk in to renew.

Recently there assisting over 70, all tests on computer, the DMV personnel were real helpful, they still have written drivers manuals to study. He failed first three so had to pay fee again then passed on second attempt and now has his new license. Good luck
