We have stayed at Hancock twice now with our family. Both times it has been clean, the hosts are amazing and friendly. Everyone is respectful. The river is beautiful. An amazing campground.

My husband I travel full time in our RV. We have stayed at Hancock Campground several time. We have always found it to be well kept. The bathrooms are extremely clean! The hosts have always been very helpful and professional. In reading some of the reviews it's a good reminder to us the importance of acting like adults. We had an issue there neighbors on one occasion. The hosts were very attentive to our concern and addressed the noise issue quickly and efficiently. We realize they are not on shift 24/7. We appreciate their hard work to keep the campground an enjoyable stop along the way!

This place is usually very good. This year there are more people probably from lack of other travel that are camping here. They dont follow the rules of quiet time. The family next to my site, about 20 of them had a big spotlight lit all night with a car running. They also let their precious offspring run amok at all hours yelling and screaming. The hosts are useless as I went to complain and they were asleep but that is only because they weren't next to those loudmouths.

One of my favorite campgrounds. Variety of types of sites. Generally clean. Friendly staff. River access. If you visit this campground and the river especially, take care of YOUR TRASH (especially cigarettes and fishing hooks) when at the river access! It’s a beautiful spot that should be protected and not trashed.

The host doesn't stay over night in the winter
No electric hook ups, or water hook ups. They do have have a couple water pumps for water. Primitive camping at it's best!
Yes they are
Yes. We have a 28' trailer and fit on the majority of the sites. Smaller ones will be no problem.
Yes. We can take up to 40 ft on some sites.
Even In the winter time the campground fills up, so try to get a spot early.
As it is part of the NH White Mountain National Forest, you would have to follow their guidelines. They have a section that covers mineral collecting and gold panning on their website.
The campground has sites for RVs and tents. There is a loop road with sites for RVs or tents and a walk-in tent area.
No there's not. They have water available and very clean bathrooms though
Anytime. As long as the site is empty, you can take it. Check out is 12 noon.
Yes All winter it is open.
There are envelopes and green "iron rangers" at the entrance to the campground and at the top of the walk in tent site area. You fill the envelope out and put it in the slot in the iron ranger
Many like to use the swimming hole at the campground to rinse off. You can also use the showers at Jigger Johnson and Russell Pond. Just show them your site slip that goes on your vehicle to prove you are staying at Hancock.
I think there's parking on the premises. It might also be for just the tent sites. Not 100%
I don't think so :( if you are a active military you can get a pass for half off though through nps https://www.nps.gov/planyourvisit/passes.htm#CP_JUMP_5088576
I know most sites are first come first serve. There are several other campgrounds down the road though. So you'll probably be able to get a site there if you can't the day you arrive.
I believe its noon, but to be sure you can read the sign just inside the campground. If you need to leave later than that you can just pay for an extra day, it's pretty cheap.

No showers. There are flush toilets and running water, along with some composting toilets.
its $24 per night.
Your site fee covers one car at the site, you can pay like $5/ day for a second. After that I believe you have to park in an overflow lot but we had three cars on site last weekend (just tents, no camper) and no one said anything. Happy camping!
Absolutely. Each campsite is equipped with a fire pit. Just bring your own wood and be sure it's local (pests hiding in firewood from other regions is a major concern).
