It's been years since I've done radio work in a vehicle but I'm going to take a guess that when the engine work was done that created a grounding issue somewhere in the system which will interfere with the radio

I would make an appointment first. Ray's is very popular - a good sign in my books - so you need to know when they can do the work otherwise you could have a wasted trip. If you don't already have the starter kit, you may want to stop in, learn which one will best fit your needs, and make an appointment at that time. They're very knowledgeable and helpful; I believe you'll be satisfied with your experience with Ray's. They're also great with support afterwards!
