There certainly is a difference in the quality of granite. The two factors that we generally guard against are water absorption and color consistency. We try to choose granites that will not discolor, and we also want colors that have a consistent pattern. This ensures that our customers will have granite that will last forever, and the highest quality version of the color they choose.
There are many variables when it comes to the price of a monument. Granite color and size are the biggest determining factor. In general, flush markers cost between $650 and $900, bevels and slants cost between $1200 to $3000, and upright monuments usually start around the $2900 range and go up from there depending on the size and color.
