It appears to have been spruced up since the last time I visited. It also felt a lot safer.

Amtrak in Sedalia! Depot clean and beautiful. Saw 2 cyclists get off the train with their bikes ready to tackle The Katy Trail ! Check out the new Lamy building across the street for a night out on the town.

Does this Amtrak go all the way to Pontiac Illinois

R Cusick | May 13, 2022

No, the Missouri River Runner *only* covers the area between Kansas City, Missouri and St. Louis, Missouri. You could transfer to the Texas Eagle in St. Louis and go up into Illinois, but Pontiac is not one of the locations on the Amtrak line.

I hope to take my grandson on an official train ride before school starts, from KC to Sedalia and back. We will have roughly 2.5 hours stopover. Is there somewhere nearby to eat or anything to do during that time? I cant walk TOO far. (1/2 mile?)

You can call ets taxi here in Sedalia and they charge $10.00 for any where in Sedalia. Many food places. Just ask the taxi driver what your looking to spend and what kind of food you like and he should help you. I'm a driver myself.
