Great trails, excellent bird watching with other wildlife observations. Saw a group of birds interacting with a deer. Birds would fly onto the back of deer until deer would attempt to brush them off. The deer was being teased by the birds so it seemed. Great place. Definitely would recommend.

not a very excited trail to hike and too many bikes.

Maxwell is a great place for a hike or a jog. There are various trails that split off from easy to steep. You can start at the bottom of the foothills and finish overlooking the reservoir on one side and the city on the other. Bonus points for early morning hikes as sunrise is pretty gorgeous from that elevated vantage point!

Beautiful views!! I walked the Foothills Trail with a friend. It was nicely maintained and there was no litter. It was an easy in-out trail that took about 2 hours because we stopped to take so many pictures. We saw a few mountain bikers and a few other groups of hikers too, overall the trail wasn't that busy this Monday afternoon.

Questions & Answers

Is there a good biking trail nearby?

If you are looking for a flat bike trail I would suggest an either the pouder River trail, or the Spring Creek trail. The Spring Creek trail will come out at Dixon reservoir. There are gravel trails around that park which is actually pine ridge trails. If you are looking for more single track I would head over to blue sky, sotterberg trails which is behind Horsetooth reservoir.
