Visited the store today. It was beautiful and I enjoyed it. I was shopping for a backpack and came across a perfect bag by Herschel. The bag required a purchase of a membership. I find the customer service counter and find that the membership costs $30 and give you a gift card of $30 to spend in store. Great! I will sign up and get the bag I wanted today! One major flaw in REI marketing system: the gift cad goes into effect the next day. unfortunately, I had to leave the store and now purchasing the bag for less on Herschel website. Bummer because I wanted the bag today. If they could have made the gift card work for their customers the same day, I would have purchased a bag and a membership today.

Location - 5/5 Products - 5/5 Customer Service - 1/5 First time being here in awhile. Excited to show my fiancé as it was her first time being here. We weren’t even greeted as we walked in. The employee just stared at us. We continue to look around the front area near the candy. Employees continue to watch us but have yet to greet us. We look through the candy section and found a candy bar we wanted to try. We continue to shop and see what REI has to offer when I notice employees following us but not interacting. We continue anyway, it’s at this moment we are finally greeted by an older woman. I intentionally held the candy bars in my hand with my hand open so the employees wouldn’t think I’m stealing yet they continue following us. The older woman who greeted us continued to follow us merely 5-6 feet away as we continued browsing. We became insulted that multiple employees are following us so we proceed to the checkout to purchase the candy bars. As we pass the entrance where the original employee failed to greet us the older women stops to talk with him as we over hear them exchange greetings she can be heard saying she feels better now after we headed towards the checkout. I guess this must be the typical protocol for new customers. The lack of basic customer service was disappointing but being treated like an intruder was the deal breaker. Definitely won’t recommend.

I have unique perspective concerning under privileged people that are homeless or unfamiliar with REI gear. If I had the resources to develop a program of stewardship, I would provide the support, resources, and skills develope program they deserve so as to acquire the experience necessary to responsibly care for REI equipment entrusted to them and earn the appreciation of privilege of owning this specialized gear.
Had to wear a mask to enter like orher stores in the county. Hand sanitizer is available at the store entrance.
Yes... the REI Fort Collins location will rent snowhoes and poles for the season ahead!
Hi! I work at the REI in Fort Collins- I'm pretty sure we don't rent walkie talkies- but I'll talk to management about trying to get some in our rental fleet!
You can, and they're welcoming so long as it's a service animal. It's a higher end outdoor outfitter, with items that cost a lot, wear extremely well and will last longer than almost anything you'd buy from knockoff brands. Why bring your animal in their and get animal hair all over what could end up being my new.... Or better yet, someone else who's allergic to animal dander ends up brining X or Y back because your animal just couldn't stay in the car for 15 minutes while you were shopping.
Yes, I think it is $10 for REI members
