I had a great experience with weDry Restoration. I had first contacted a different company due to a mold smell in one of our bedroom closets. The other company came out, seemed knowledgeable, looked around the house a little (didn’t go into the attic or do a deep inspection) and did an air mold test. The test showed high levels of Pen/Asp mold group in the master bedroom but the other company was unable to come back for almost two weeks and could not provide an exact quote until they came back. Due to my autoimmune issues and the symptoms I was having, we did not want to wait that long. That is when we contacted weDry. I was very overwhelmed due to the situation and first spoke with Amy, who was very kind and understanding. Even though she was professional, she made me feel comfortable, like I was talking to a friend instead of just a business. She was able to have someone out right away to do an inspection. When Mike came out to do the inspection, not only was he also kind and professional, he was extremely thorough. Pulling back the carpeting and padding in the closet, going up into the attic to look around, and even looking through all of the basement insulation. I was very impressed with the time and effort he put in to finding the source of the mold smell. WeDry was able to get a detailed quote back same day that showed a breakdown of every single expense so you know exactly where your money is going. I was also impressed by how quickly I would receive email responses from Amy or that she would touch base to see how I was doing. The cause of the mold ended up being due to an outside issue and our HOA stepped in to handle the repairs, using their own company. However, if Amy and Mikes work ethic are a reflection of weDry Restoration and the rest of their team and services, then I would say they are an outstanding company and believe that other companies should take a page from their book.

Contact weDRY 248-752-3222 for a prompt property damage assessment. If you are insured, it is likely that your insurance policy requires you take prompt action to minimize damages to your home covered under your policy. If the issue is plumbing related and you have safe access to your main water line, turn it off as soon as possible. Call your insurance company immediately to report the damage and review your coverage. (Jarvis does not make any determinations or decisions regarding insurance coverage.) If your home has been damaged because of a storm, you should place a tarp over interior personal property to protect it from outdoor elements and subsequent inclement weather. Remember to keep away from flood waters, which may contain harmful bacteria. Avoid using electrical outlets or connections until your property has been inspected by a licensed electrician or you are approved to do so by your local electric company.
In general, the smell of mold is unpleasant, and smells like something is moist in the room. Some people compare it to the smell of wet socks, or rotten wood or paper. When mold eats, grows and multiplies, it releases Microbial Volatile Organic Compounds (MVOC). Mold’s odor is persistent.
Restoration Companies are usually the first responders following significant damage to a home from floods and fires, water damage, sew- age backup and other major events. The job of a restoration company is to clean up the mess and to preserve and protect the home and its contents so that further damage will not occur.
As a part of insurance reconstruction for water damages, it allows to generally cover the affected areas and any other areas which don’t have natural barriers like doors. If your kitchen is affected by the flood and you own an open floor plan, in majority of the instances, insurance will include the reconstruction procedure in the living area and as well as to cover flooring and paint, baseboards, etc. to ensure that the areas look similar and do not contrast.
The average cost of simply drying out your property from a “clean” water leak with no further damage done or restoration needed is around $2,700, while the average cost of drying out your home and repairing the damage done to areas like drywall and carpeting is around $7,500.
For people sensitive to mold, inhaling or touching mold spores can cause allergic reactions, including sneezing, runny nose, red eyes, and skin rash. People with serious mold allergies may have more severe reactions, including shortness of breath.
Exposure to damp and moldy environments may cause a variety of health effects, or none at all. Some people are sensitive to molds. For these people, molds can cause nasal stuffiness, throat irritation, coughing or wheezing, eye irritation, or, in some cases, skin irritation.
No, it is not safe to sleep in a bedroom with mold. Indoor mold of any exposure is worrisome, but mold in the bedroom is especially so, simply due to the number of hours you spend in your bedroom breathing it in while you sleep. Beyond the immediate allergy symptoms, mold exposure often causes sleep issues, too.
Be Safe, Don’t Stay in a Home Infested with Mold or Mildew. Mold can cause serious health problems, as well as structural damage to a home when a property has experienced flooding.
Bleach does not kill mold on porous surfaces and can actually contribute to mold growth! … This means that chlorine bleach can only kill surface mold. Because mold can grow deep roots within porous surfaces, such as wood and drywall, bleach will not assist you in exterminating mold.
Bleach cannot completely kill mold growing in non-porous materials like drywall and wood. Bleach contains about 90% water. When you apply bleach to a surface, the chlorine quickly evaporates leaving behind a lot of water. Then, when the water soaks into porous surfaces like wood, it encourages mold growth. So, bleach can actually make your mold problem worse. On porous surfaces such as walls, floors, ceilings, wood framing, drywall, and cabinets. It is not effective – in fact, it can actually feed the mold and make the problem worse. This is counter-intuitive – it goes against the common thought that bleach kills germs. … Chlorine bleach is mostly water.
Call weDRY immediately at 248-752-3222 for an emergency board up of your property and a damage assessment. Your insurance company requires you take immediate action to attempt to mitigate damages to your home. Call your insurance company to verify or explain your coverage. Open all windows and doors to allow the property to begin to vent the smoke and dry out. Do not turn on your electricity until your property has been inspected by a professional. Do not disturb the area around the fire source or move items, as this often will need to be investigated by your insurance company and the local fire department. Do not clean, wipe or attempt to wash fire residue from walls, ceilings or other absorbent surfaces as this can cause additional damage to these areas.
