While residents at a Holiday by Atria community for over four years, we saw at least eight managers come and go but when Larry Goings was hired as the community Executive Director, immediately, we all knew he was special and great for our community. Mr. Goings went out of his way to care for his residents, and his team and was always accessible, having his door open all the time, and working all the time. In fact, from Mr. Goings entry, walking into a literal mess in January and leaving late August, we don't think he took a day off and worked twelve hour days. Much of the time, he worked short staffed and served in literally all roles at the same time. Mr. Goings always kept a smile and wanted to know what he could do for his residents. Many times, we felt sorry for Larry,, feeling he wasn't getting the backing from Atria's upper management that he desperately needed. Most residents understand why Larry resigned his position, if for no other reason, exhaustion and just worn out from no days off. Most large companies don't know or appreciate what they had until they lose someone like Mr. Goings, they just keep going with the warm bodies in a spot. Whatever company selects Larry, they'll surely know they have a keeper and will be smarter for keeping him.

My husband and I have lived at Echo Ridge for over four years. We are disappointed that the new owners (Atria Senior Living) are not taking care our community. We have so many repairs which need to be taken care of and they are ignoring these issues. Many of the needed repairs could be fixed but they are more concerned about revenue than taking care of senior citizens. Carpet over 25 years old is stained and dangerous, needs to be replaced. Dining room chairs with wheels falling off and structural problems that are totally being ignored. We have found that the company representatives will lie about things being repaired in order to avoid dealing with elderly residents. I would no longer recommend this facility.

Mandatory Monthly drug testing of staff would go a long way to improving the quality of this facility.

I have my grandmother as a resident of Echo Ridge in Knoxville and she absolutely loves it. Losing her husband, my grandfather, she wanted to be around people that are positive, happy and a place that has activities. We visited every senior living facility in the area and while some are newer, they just didn't have the family warm feel as Echo Ridge. Almost immediately, we knew this was the place she would call home and that we could feel comfortable knowing she was in the best place in the area. It first began in meeting and speaking with the G.M. Larry Goings. Mr. Goings answered all of our questions, was transparent, professional and has a heart for seniors. He told us stories of his relationship with his grandparents, and saw how many residents would come up to him and their interactions told us a lot. Mr. Goings introduced us to his staff that were really friendly and made us feel welcomed. Mr. Goings had us eat lunch and the food was delicious and gave us the opportunity to speak with other residents who conveyed how much they loved it there. After our lunch we then went and toured the place and chose what apartment was appropriate. Considering all the free countless amenities and what they cost at other places, we chose Echo Ridge and it's been lovely. Not only do we recommend Echo Ridge to everyone, but if we ever decide to go this route, this will be where we call home too.
