It's a very extensive library, well laid out and inclusive. It's a favorite.

Staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I checked out The Iwata Letters and found the collection accessible and informative.

This is an interesting place to visit. On my last visit I saw copies of the Bill of Rights. Visitors were also able to see the archives which are not usually open to the public. A person can access information about the Civil War the Civil Rights movement women in Philadelphia Jews in Philadelphia, among other topics.

Questions & Answers

I own a 5 piece tea and coffee service that was made by Joseph & Nathaniel Richardson. Each of the pieces is struck 4 times with the makers mark. Three of the pieces are also engraved on the bottom C over P S. Any idea who that was?

No doubt the free library of pa has a book on maker's marks. They may possibly have someone who could research it for you. Good luck!

I have a copy of an abolitionist newspaper called "The Struggler". Published in Philadelphia 1835. Would you have any interest in it? I can send a photo if you'd like.
