I am forever grateful to the team at Banyan for helping my son. It has been a year, and he is still completely clean and sober. Everyone from phone intake to Kevin who has been texting for the past year to check in were wonderful. At a time we felt completely hopeless we stumbled upon a miracle. We can't thank you enough.

The Banyan Facility at Wilkes-Barre and the PHP in Langhore were awesome programs! I feel like it was highly beneficial to my recovery. I would definitely recommend these facilities to anyone in need of Recovery!

I was going to start on Monday, but I got a call on Friday (today) saying my insurance was not accepted. They should have looked into that first. I’m so disappointed, it’s so hard to get eating disorder treatment. The people were nice enough to give three stars, just please do better and don’t get people’s hopes up…

A family member is currently being treated at Banyan Philadelphia & I am absolutely thrilled with their professionalism, attention to detail, communication to the family, thoroughness, & most importantly the excellent care that they provide to their patients. They are a top-notch facility that I would highly recommend to anyone in need of their professional services!

If you call in, they can give resources for treatment that do not require insurance.
Banyan Philadelphia hosts meetings at the facility regularly. Patients also have the opportunity to attend 12-Step and recovery meetings within the community, so that they may begin to build a local sober support system prior to discharge. This increases the chance of patients’ participation in recovery programs after they leave our care and continue on their path to recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.
Yes. Banyan Philadelphia accepts patients suffering from co-occurring disorders, or dual diagnoses. Patients with mood or thought disorders, including depression and anxiety, PTSD and bi-polar disorder, who are also in need of drug and alcohol addiction treatment, are able to receive the care they need at Banyan Philadelphia. Our expert team of therapists, medical staff and psychiatrists can help determine the best treatment plan for patients with both mental health and substance abuse issues.
Our average age is 25-30 years old.
Yes! We offer art therapy groups three times a week as well as music therapy two times a week.
Banyan Philadelphia features many ancillary services in addition to traditional drug and alcohol treatment. Patients have the opportunity to participate in yoga, as well as art and music therapy. There is a hands-on life skills program that helps patients to develop skills that will help them be successful in everyday life, outside of the scope of traditional drug and alcohol education. Banyan Philadelphia features a Serenity, or Bio-feedback, bed that aids in treating anxiety, depression and stress. In addition to client-centered therapy there is also a family program at Banyan Philadelphia that enables loved ones of the individual in treatment to heal and grow as well.
Alongside cognitive behavioral therapy, which is recognized as the most effective modality in treating substance abuse and other mental health disorders, we offer alternative therapies such as Biosound Therapy, which integrates biofeedback therapy, Sound Frequency Healing, Music Therapy and Guided Imagery. The system consists of a vibrational platform, known as the Serenity Bed, which is constructed with memory foam and integrated with an audio/visual delivery system. The system utilizes precisely choreographed music that is synchronized with low frequency sine tones and binaural beats. Biosound Therapy has been shown to alleviate stress, anxiety, depressive thoughts, cravings, impulsivity, fearfulness, body aches, muscle tension, and headaches. We also offer sound healing classes, yoga classes, acupuncture, and chiropractic services.
PTSD is addressed from both a clinical and a medical standpoint. We offer Rapid Resolution Therapy, which is an evidence-based therapeutic technique that eliminates the negative emotional or behavioral influence of traumatic events. We also utilize the Seeking Safety curriculum in our group and individual therapy sessions, which is another evidence-based therapeutic tool that addresses trauma and substance abuse issues concurrently. Sometimes, our medical staff will prescribe medication to alleviate certain symptoms of PTSD such as nightmares and sleep disturbance.
At Banyan, we approach resistance from patients from a motivational interviewing perspective and “roll with the resistance.” This means that we avoid direct confrontation, to ensure that our patients are feeling heard and safe, and help our patients formulate their own solutions to what they are being resistant to instead of forcing suggestions and directives on them. We rarely ask our patients to leave treatment but if we do, it is typically related to a behavioral issue that threatens the safety or treatment process of one or more patients in our community.
Yes! We bring some meetings in as well as bring patients to attend outside groups.
Yes! All 12-Step models are based on the twelve steps originally outlined in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Since its inception in 1935, AA has helped countless recovering addicts and alcoholics to achieve sobriety. Alcoholics Anonymous is built on twelve principles and virtues: Honesty, Hope, Faith, Courage, Integrity, Willingness, Humility, Brotherly Love, Discipline, Perseverance, Spirituality and Service. The program is centered on practicing these principles in everyday life. There are many other 12-Step programs, and patients are encouraged to find the one that best works for them. Other programs include Narcotics Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous and Crystal Meth Anonymous. Learn more about the twelve steps here.
We approach alcohol & drug addiction treatment from a fully integrated, multi-disciplinary standpoint. We understand that each patient has specific, individual needs that require unique treatment plans to help them recover. Each patient undergoes a clinical assessment prior to the creation of their treatment plan to determine the best way to meet those needs & ensure that they get the fully customized care they deserve. Our treatment team consists of therapists, case managers, doctors, nurses, psychiatrists & other specialized providers to deliver the highest quality care. We add the 12-Step model, or alternately SMART Recovery, into the treatment process, enabling patients to build a strong foundation in recovery prior to leaving. Patients attend group & individual therapy where therapists utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered/Humanistic Therapy & Solution Focused Therapy to provides the best outcomes.
