I had an appointment with this Dr in 2020 and after seeing my x-rays he told me his colleague, Dr Karas, needs to do my full knee replacement bcuz my ligaments needed major repair. Only to find out after my knee replacement and seeing other knee surgeons bcuz I will never go back to this place of lies. Other surgeons have read my medical records and my ligaments were never touched or repaired. In fact, Karas told me in my post op appointment that ligaments repair on their own and he did not touch them. Two years later I'm still in PT and have major atrophy in that leg.

Dr Berger is the best at this procedure, and when I needed the same thing done on the other side I came back without a second thought

My left knee replacement surgery took place on August 30th. I just finished my 2nd week of out patient PT. My strength, balance and flexibility are returning and every day the progress is improving. I'm looking forward to October 11th for the right knee. Everything that I was told to expect has happened on schedule and better than I had hoped for. I only wish I would have heard about Dr.Berger sooner. I would also like to commend the staff. From the first phone call to my latest post-op appointment, every individual has been helpful, knowledgeable and caring. Each interaction has been courteous and thoughtful. Inquiries have been quickly answered and informed replies were given to all questions and concerns.

Only the doctor can confirm that. However, based on my personal experience, anyone for whom making accomodations for increasing knee pain and instability has finally become too much. Check out Dr Richard Berger's web site for information on minimally invasive surgery.

I don't know what insurances he works with, but I do know he does not work with Medicare and therefore does not bill any insurance that is supplemental to Medicare. The office is most helpful, so if you email or call directly about insurance they will be able to answer your question.

Can both knee replacements be done at the same time? If not, how much time is needed between the two surgeries?

Pat Verhoestra | Oct 10, 2018
Roger Draft | Oct 10, 2018

Dr Berger will not do two at the same time, as he believes healing is better and faster one at a time. I believe he will do the second one after six weeks.
