I experienced, in my opinion, what appeared to be an attempt to support an individual trying to commit fraud by one of the workers at this branch, Rohan Drummond. On 5/26, I wrote a check for a deposit to render services to a business owner who has an account at Well Fargo. According to my bank, Chase, the funds cleared my account at 11:24 p.m. on that same day. I went with another service and requested a refund on 5/27. However, on Saturday, 5/28, the business owner claimed he never received the money and would not return it. According to the information he received from Rohan Drummond, the check was presented twice because it was denied the first time due to insufficient funds. Additionally, he said a hold would be placed on the funds until 6/7. I informed Rohan that my bank said that was not the case. Then, I offered to connect Rohan directly with my bank and he claimed he “could not talk to Chase directly”. Rohan gave me an 800 number to call in order to “send verification that the check cleared my account.” When I Googled the number, it was just the general customer service number for the bank. According to information from both Wells Fargo and Chase, the fact that the money was removed from my account is the ONLY verification required. I suspect that Rohan is closely associated with the business owner and was assisting him in trying to pull a fast one on me in order not to refund my deposit. I ended up speaking to the manager, Kevin and he was extremely helpful. Shortly after speaking with Kevin, I received a call from Well Fargo’s Fraud Department and they asked me to verify that I wrote the check to the company. They said my signature was illegible, which is why they needed verify that I wrote the check. It was never presented for payment twice. Rohan lied. The only reasonable explanation I can think of why Rohan would tell a lie that could be easily disproven is because he is closely associated with the business owner. With Kevin’s help, I was able to get the matter resolved in less than five minutes. All the information I received from the other reputable and honest Wells Fargo representatives directly contradicted the statements made by Rohan as he attempted, in my opinion to conceal evidence for his friend. While I have always had a great experience with Wells Fargo, I am extremely disappointed in Rohan’s behavior today.
