So I haven't seen the provider yet as my appointment is next week but I wanted to go ahead and make my first review based off the scheduling experience. No long wait on the phone, very professional. The lady who answered and scheduled me was so helpful and polite. She answered all my questions and got me and my three children booked really quick as my old eye doctor cant get us in til October. Just by scheduling experience I give them a 5 and would give a higher one if I could. I'm hoping my appointment goes just as well..... I will be back to update my review after my visit. Update: Had my appointment and it went very well. Easy check in, no wait, got pulled back quickly and felt like the doctor and staff took my appointment serious and listened to my concerns. I did not feel rushed and was extremely satisfied with my appointment and experience. Highly recommend this practice!!

My daughter and I had an amazing experience at Village Eyecare. Very sweet and helpful front desk staff, in fact, everyone we encountered during our visit was pleasant. This was my daughter’s first optometry appointment and they had a great way with her. The doctor went above and beyond as well and explained everything thoroughly. We will be back and will recommend to our friends.

The entire staff is friendly and helpful, the optometrist was the best I’ve ever been to (have being seeing eye doctors for 33 years). Very knowledgeable, informative, and a fantastic demeanor as well. Highly recommend!

Questions & Answers

I care to know, if you all, take Medicare and Medicaid for eye glasses?

Raymond Harris | Oct 9, 2020
Laurie Vaughan | Oct 9, 2020

Raymond, we take both Medicaid and Medicare in our office. If a person only has Medicaid there is coverage for eyeglasses. But unfortunately, when a person has both Medicaid and Medicare there is no coverage for eyeglasses. Medicare rules become primary and they do not allow any coverage for eyeglasses.

Do you accept Avesis insurance?

Kelly Pottebaum | Dec 13, 2021
Village Eye Care | Dec 13, 2021

Kelly, We do not take Avesis because their vision plan will not reimburse for the exam fee. They expect offices to accept an unacceptably large discount from the normal exam fee.

Do you take Medicaid for adults for eye exam and glasses? Is it full coverage?

They do take Medicaid but you'll have to call to see how much is covered.

How long does it usually take glasses to come in??thanks

We use a full service lab in New York, it takes about 4-8 days turnaround time to get the glasses fabricated. The other lab we use is the North Carolina Medicaid lab. Glasses made through medicaid are only made in one location in Nash, NC and the it takes a long time before they send us the finished glasses. This is a government run lab and they take upwards of a month before they send us the completed glasses. Unfortunately medicaid only allows this one lab to be used in North Carolina.

Do you take Medicare for contact lenses?

Susie Bivins | Oct 9, 2021
Village Eye Care | Oct 9, 2021

Susie, We accept Medicare but it can only used for eye examinations when there is a medical diagnosis, like cataracts, allergies, dry eyes, etc. Medicare does not cover the fitting and evaluation of contact lenses, nor the purchase of contact lenses.
