Such a wealth of local history. Visit to learn so much more about our community's past. There's more to Franklin than meets the eye.

This museum houses an extensive archive of history of the area with a large library that has information pre dating the civil war era. The displays have artifacts on how life was in times gone by. The memorabilia includes notable people that founded this area with even a UFO incident that involved a P 51 Mustang crash. A very nice military section to honor all vets. The old jail was built to resemble a medieval castle as a deterrent to crime even though one prisoner tried to escape through the door where food trays were passed through and was used until 1986. We received a very extensive tour of the museum that included the jail.

If you like history this is a experience. They have all kinds of historical items. From military to actual kitchen and bedroom from when the house was built. I, would highly recommend..

The new book was actually done by our bicentennial committee though we have the copies for sale. It contains lots of pictures that have been submitted by people throughout the county on all different topics. It also includes brief bios of 1st families of Simpson County members submitted by descendents.
