I've looked at the pictures and reviews for a long time and haven't been clamoring to go here but I will say I was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance inside. We were seated right away and our waitress and the bartender were pleasant and friendly. My husband and I shared a dozen oysters and wow. I've had lots of raw oysters in my days. These were fresh and large! My husband had the fried platter and was pleased but didn't love the bread crumb topping they cook onto the mashed potatoes. Odd choice. I love seafood and sushi and have never tried soft shell crab which was a special. You can get it sautéed or fried and I went for sautéed. Unfortunately I really didn't like it! Not the restaurants fault. It was a texture thing where I felt like I was chewing on a fingernail to get to the crab meat. I would love to go back on a Thursday for their $1 oyster and $20 bottle of preseco night!

This place is a CLASSIC. I had the grouper which was dAmn decadent. Highly recommend it. As for the classic part ... it still has the vibe of 75 years ago. That goes for the decor and the cuisine. Oh... and the bourbon bloody mary... well that was special. Maybe the best I have ever had... and I have had more than a few.

Great and delicious sea food choices. Menu is vast so you can’t go wrong with your choices. Great cocktails. Cozy atmosphere. Great outdoor space for the warmer months. Friendly staff. One of the nicer places in town for dining out. In the summer they also have a great little boat outside that offers fish fry’s to go.

My pomegranate martini was delicious and the napkin was funny. So its a good start. I ordered the lobster stew which came in a bread bowl. It was good, but too much bread for me. I also had the calamari. My dinner was the haddock and that was very good. They also have outdoor seating.

Reds has been one of the most consciousus restaurants in the area, relating to Covid safety. They were one of the first to build an outdoor dining area last summer, and seem to follow guidelines to the letter. They even have sanitized pens available for use when picking up for takeout, and a separate bucket for the pen once it's used. Add to that the fact that the food has never disappointed and the people are very friendly, and it's hard to find a more responsible and welcoming restaurant in Coxsackie (and that's a serious compliment because we have some fantastic restaurants for a relatively small town).
