April 2021 was very hard for me and my family. We lost our son and didn't know the first thing about funeral planning but God sent Steven Lyons and his staff. Sorry it took so long to tell of the good works that we received from you all (but better late than never). I'm so glad we chose you because you made process so much easier. May God continue to keep you all to continue the great works that you do. Blessings from Tyron Miller's family

I appreciate everyone and everything Steven Lyons did for my family when we made arrangements for my aunt. Death of a love one is difficult. Having Steven Lyons coordinate and provide us resources made it a little bearable.

My father passed away in November 2021. My family and I are from out of town, so I researched funeral homes in the Raleigh-Durham area. The Steven L. Lyons Funeral Home got great reviews, so I decided to have them perform my father’s services. Dr. Lyons was great with communicating and his staff was friendly. I was happy with my father’s services and my family returned home. Here is where things took a turn. Three weeks after my father’s services, I was informed by Duke University Hospital Staff that my father’s personal items that he had on him at the time of his death were released to the Steven L. Lyons Funeral Home. I followed-up with Dr. Lyons and requested that my father’s items be shipped to me. After several days of “investigation” Dr. Lyons finally followed up with me and informed me that my father’s items had been “discarded.” While Dr. Lyons did reimburse me for the value of my father’s items, which included cash, there are personal items that had sentimental value and they can never be replaced. My father’s phone had all of his contacts in them, which can now never be retrieved. His military I.D. and badge are gone as well. Furthermore, I will never truly know if my father’s items were “discarded” or if they were actually stolen by someone on Dr. Lyons staff which is extremely concerning. My father and my family deserved so much better than this. My father was not trash and his possessions should not have been tossed aside as though he did not matter, and that’s assuming that the items were discarded, and not taken. This has hurt me and my family a great deal. No family should have to experience this during such a difficult time.

Not all doctors practice medicine. The title Dr. can be used by anyone with a PHD as it is an academic title.
