My name is Michael Smart of Moncks Corner. I’ve been using Charleston Pain Specialist at Elms for quite awhile. Nurses and doctors have been awesome. I had a scheduled appointment for September 7, 2022 at 8.00am. Been scheduled for months. Usually takes me 20 minutes to get there from my house, but this date the traffic was so backed up, it took me an hour to arrive. (But still on time.) After the terrible time I had getting there, I was told that my appointment had been rescheduled! But yet, I had not been notified of this!! Conversation with receptionist revealed I was “cancelled” but never rescheduled!!! Wasted my morning, gas and time!!!! She literally would not discuss this matter with me! Nor refer me to speak with someone! Just kept asking if I wanted to re schedule!! After rescheduling, I walked away angry and threw the appointment card in the waste can at the door!! Quality Doctors loosing patience due to slack and inconsiderate receptionist. After reading other reviews, seems the owners reply’s are that of robots. “We’re sorry; but glad to hear from you. Call ???”!!! Maybe it’s time these rich owners start reaching out and handling the problems!!!!!! Seems the people they hire aren’t able to!! I had to rate a star to post this review. The Doctors and Nurses get *****. Receptionists 0*!!

I don't know what you are looking for specifically but they have performed radio frequency ablation in the past. Your best bet is to get a consult and see what they can offer you to aid whatever difficulty you may have. If it's a nerve issue they should be able to help. If it's a joint or arthritis issue you may want to consult an orthopedist or try physical therapy.

Why do you need a class and see a pshycologist before the procedure?

Babette L Yannacey | Oct 9, 2019
Pain Specialists of Charleston | Oct 8, 2020

Hi Babette- apologies for the delayed response to your question. For neurostimulation procedures our office offers the classes to ensure that patients have access to all applicable information on this procedure available as an option for them. We encourage any patients interested in this treatment method to sit in as an educational experience as well as an opportunity to get any questions they may have answered. If a patient determines that this could be a productive option for them, they will first complete a one-week, SCS trial to determine if they receive relief above the expected threshold. If successful, prior to the surgical implantation of the device, patients are required to obtain surgical clearance from a psychologist that we can refer you to. This process is common among various surgeries and is in place to ensures patient wellbeing throughout the procedure and recovery.
