Nice local breakfast place with good service!

The lady who owns the place is a fruit cake! Cusses out employees in front of customers and just a overall bad person. Don’t waste your time spending money with devil.

This place used to be great, but now it’s awful. You can even tell from how there is no owner response to negative reviews anymore. It seems like with Mr. Barry gone, the spark is gone too. We went here a while ago and had an awful experience. My $14 chicken sandwich was a thin, rubbery, unseasoned puck stuck on two pieces of stale crumbly bread. My partner’s meal was basically a ball of grease. When we arrived no one greeted us or told us where to sit. I can’t help feeling like it’s due in part to us being an interracial couple, especially since other reviews mention how unsafe POC have felt here. Save your money and go elsewhere, even for a good cause it’s not worth it. This was the most disappointing $30 I’ve ever spent on diner food.

Definitely felt unwelcome here, came with my family. Waited 10 minutes before even being addressed and then immediately spoke to my white partner, before acknowledging the rest of my family. My father who is a huge fan of memorabilia was interested in walls and was understandably recording the interesting decorations. The manager, an ununiformed older woman immediately came to our table and said to me, "It's illegal in North Carolina to record people's faces." First of all my father is fluent in English and she could of asked him directly, and she could have simply asked us to not take pictures, and we would have been happy to oblige, instead immediately threatening us with legal action. I don't know what's going on with this place, but from the other reviews there is a clear theme that if youre asian or hispanic you're not welcome here. Which is truly sad because I love the message and support for emergency workers that Barry's Cafe is supposed to represent. That said, no one needs a 13 dollar breakfast burrito.

Wear a mask until seated and at your table you can remove it. The booths separate people and the tables aren't used to maintain a minimum of 6ft distance. The staff wear masks.
