I was experiencing stroke like symptoms at home and my husband rushed me to Roper Berkeley ER. The triage staff were very quick and efficient and the nurses were wonderful. However, the CT techs seemed very annoyed and unprofessional. After the initial CT, a CT venogram was ordered. The CT tech came to get me from my room in the ER and loudly complained that the venogram was unnecessary. While I was on the table waiting for the scan to start, I could hear her and the other two techs conversation. She was telling them that I probably had Bell’s palsy and all of this was being blown out of proportion. Once they realized the scan was supposed to be a venogram, they admitted to each other that they didn’t know how to build the scan. The initial tech called two people to figure out how to configure the scan on their machine. The second person finally called them back and provided instructions. Once the scan was complete, the male tech said this doesn’t look right. The initial female tech said I don’t care, I’m not doing it again unless someone tells me to. The neurologist who I spoke to virtually on the stroke cart kept lamenting that it couldn’t have been a stroke because I was too young, despite my risk factors of recent pregnancy and C-section. The ER doctor came into the room and said that my brain looked beautiful and there was nothing to worry about. I was discharged and given the diagnosis of headache. The following morning another ER doctor called me to say that the on call radiologist read my scan incorrectly and when it was looked over that morning they discovered that I had a blood clot in the left cortical vein of my brain and I needed to reach out to my OB for a treatment plan for blood thinners. I experienced the same symptoms within 24 hours and went to MUSC. At MUSC the neuro radiologist discovered that I have a large blood clot in the superior sagittal sinus extending into both the right and left cortical veins. This was seen on a venogram, which is the scan that the Roper CT techs knowingly performed incorrectly. My husband reached out to the lead CT tech at Roper who informed him that the techs were joking about not knowing how to do the scan and that the scan was performed correctly, despite not capture the entire extent of the clot in my brain. I will never go to another Roper facility again and will not recommend them to family or friends. Go to MUSC for your healthcare needs.

I’ve been using this facility for outpatient diagnostics and lab work. Have to say, everyone there is outstanding. The young lady who registers patients in office 1-wonderful! Amy, the phlebotomist…wow. It’s more like visiting an old friend than getting blood drawn! I wish more people in the world were as friendly and professional as the gang at Roper Berkeley!!!

If I could give this place 0 stars I would . Don’t recommend to anybody . Nurses gave my grandmother medicine without asking family members was it okay . Rude staff ! Will never see me or a family member again and I will make sure this gets out everywhere ! God sit high and look low !

Phenomenal. They were super efficient and fast as possible with the limited space and people on staff. Everyone was friendly, helpful, informative, empathetic and made you feel heard and cared for under each person’s circumstance. The facility is new and beautiful. Shout out to the staff in the urgent care ER! From the front desk, the triage (they knew more than all the doctors appointments we’ve been through from previous experiences), Dr. Blue who is awesome, nurse Lindsey, the cat scan team, security, just everyone! They did their best to get us in and out and made sure we got everything checked out to ensure we were feeling better and gave us information and resources for the next step. They made us feel better inside and out. Never thought of leaving a hospital happy before. Definitely recommending this facility to anyone. Great experience, and I really hate going to the hospital in all honesty. They did their best to make you feel comfortable.

Hi Allison, Yes, colonoscopies and other endoscopic procedures are performed at the Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital. You will need to check with your doctor to see if they do these procedures at the hospital. Thanks.
