This is the most organized DMV facility I have ever been to and the people are actually happy to help unlike other DMVs where everyone seem upset. You do have to make an appointment online but I was able to make an appointment right then & there & was helped immediately. The whole process took all of about 25 minutes.

The reason for my visit wasn't a good one. I never got my Driver's License in the mail. When I arrived there was a sign at the door indicating that Driver's License and ID issues are by appointment only. Since I was there already I went in to ask about my License. She took care of me without an appointment. (Didn't know they were required, will make one next time.) Had to go through the whole process again, and was charged $5.00, but they did say I should receive it within 15 days. Last time they were still delayed from the pandemic and said it might take a little bit longer. I was in and out in 15 minutes.

Julie was the one who helped me and then Lydia at the Cashiers station. They were both very kind and extremely efficient. I will definitely come here again in the future.

Best experience at any government agency I’ve ever had. Was in and out in 20 minutes and they made sure to get me through! Lydia was wonderful, even when there was a spelling mistake in my name, she got it corrected in a timely manor. The workers here were all very bubbly and easygoing.

Yes if getting new vehicle at least. I got my plates when I transferred over title and registration on mine
Go to Illinois DMV they have answer for you. What I can say is that my process was relatively quick and they were both helpful and professional.
If you would like to update the address on your actual driver's license/State ID card, you must visit a Secretary of State facility and bring one Acceptable Identification (Group D) and pay the appropriate fee. Most common Group D items are: Bank or credit card statement, utility bill, canceled check, or canceled check - all dated within 90 days of request. Pay stub, insurance policy (homeowner's or renter's), or official city/county/federal government document, such as voter registration card, social security, or tax bill.
If the car isn't titled on your name yet: you will need the old plate number, a valid DL w correct address, the new title filled out and signed by the seller(s) and buyer(s), and a check or money order for the taxes to IL. If there are two owners on the old plate, both will have to sign the paperwork. If both vehicles are already titled in your name you'll need ID, and both plate numbers or the previous registrations. Hope this helps.
Yes. The early spots are best. I booked a 715 am slot for my real ID. Out in 15 minutes. They were asking people that were waiting in line to book an appointment.
Correct. The new owner has not registered the vehicle yet or did it after the renewal notice was sent.
