Customer service sucks! What’s the point of having a reservation if you have to wait 2 hours for a car!!!!!?????

It all started when our “reserved” Ford Expedition was given to another customer who rented a Ford Explorer. 20 minutes later the next 7-seater vehicle was brought around but it was dirty and had a broken brake/tail light so it could not be rented. After another 15 to 20 minutes, the 3rd vehicle, (Chevy Suburban) was brought to us, but it had a safety recall so it could not be rented, so we had to unload the luggage again and my passengers had to get out of that vehicle. 10 to 15 minutes later still, (the 4th vehicle) they brought another Chevy Suburban only to discover that all your Chevy Suburbans had a safety recalled and they couldn’t release that vehicle either. (Why your employees didn’t know this rather than wasting everyone’s time is beyond me.). The 5th vehicle, a Yukon Denali, which was 90 feet away from us the entire time was finally rented to us. Note that for each vehicle, we loaded and unloaded luggage for 6 people while each time the “slow” paperwork was being proceed by your agent, and twice, my 5 passengers piled into the vehicles only to be told they needed to get out of the vehicle. Machelle was very helpful but the agent in the garage area was not. For sure, they were not trained properly and did not know their job or what to do next. It was very embarrassing while my wife and 4 of our friends “froze” in the rental garage area of the airport. After more than one hour, the 6 of us, (all senior citizens) finally left your garage. You cannot make this stuff up!

Just know going in that renting the car will take awhile, unless you're first in line after your plane lands. It's still the old-fashioned "wait at the counter to get your car" approach, which is fine, of course, but when you've had other, faster experiences, this seems like being stuck in the pre-internet era. The companies are all grouped in pairs, with two people working for both companies, so the lines can really stretch out at times.

We could not have had a more terrible experience. Our flight was cancelled and we were trying to rent a car to drive home to our children. They didn’t honor the reservation, they didn’t communicate with us for 2 hours so we couldn’t find another option, and didn’t do anything to alleviate the challenges. It was infuriating and terrible to already have been stuck overnight unexpectedly, then it was much worse to have our desperate option to get home yanked out from under our feet after making us wait for several hours.
