I've attended Red Rock from 04 to 05 it was nothing like the commercials or the brochure, it felt like living in the projects at times. Different cities had rivalries, like Philly vs Dc, and different dorms as well.There were many fights... but that comes with the territory when you have kids coming from poverty and different backgrounds. Some of the students came from broken families, and some of them wanted to escape their problems from home. Overall for me it was an experience of a lifetime and I had fun, Don't get me wrong it had it's boring moments up there but I've met some great people, I lived in the best male dorm on the center (7A) at the time, My RA was like a mom to me (Ms Deb), she caught me smoking weed and she didnt get me terminated lol. Job Corp was what you made it, despite some students being disruptive if you wanted to learn you would learn, and nothing would stop you, it all depends on the student drive and mind set...I mean no one was forcing you to get a free education, get your driver's license for free and a trade under your belt. If I could go back in time I would and I would of took it more serious then I did. My advice to a young male wanting to attend job Corp.. Be Yourself, Mind your business, take advantage of your opportunity, and don't be a punk defend yourself only if you have to and you'll be fine.
