I’m so sad to be leaving such a low review for the Humane Society. I was really hoping they could help me but they turned me away. I will say the young lady at the front desk was very nice. However she turned me away and told me they have no fosters and could not take a young sweet mom cat and her babies and told me my only option was to bring them to the shelter. I just recently moved to the area and we have a large acre property and a very young, extremely skinny, mom cat came out of the woods with her four baby kittens late one night. They were maybe four weeks old and still drinking her milk. I had no idea what to do and didn’t want to bring them to the high kill shelter in Valdosta so I brought them in a box to the Humane Society at 9 AM on Monday morning. Mom cat was EXTREMELY friendly but starving and had what I thought was a wound on her neck. (The wound ended up being a very treatable ringworm) I understand that there may not have currently been a foster to take her right away that morning but you couldn’t make some phone calls? You could’ve held them until you could find somebody? I sadly had no choice but to bring them to the animal shelter in Valdosta. I feel like I just gave them a death sentence. The intake lady there had a huge attitude and a scowl on her face and acted as if I was bringing her kittens so that she could just kill them off. I literally left with no hope but they were going to put them up for adoption or try to help them in anyway. I’m so disappointed in the Humane Society right now- I really thought they would help. Now I know why you see stories on the news of people leaving kittens in boxes on their front steps- I feel like then they’d have no choice but to take them in. I was trying to do the right thing, now I’m just broken hearted. Sad.

Very friendly staff. A great place to adopt a pet from .

They feed cats that gather in overpopulated sections of Lowndes county. This leads to rampant diseases between the cats. They continue to reproduce in massive numbers, and are very hostile and feral. I am currently in the hospital from a serious infection due to a cat bite from one of their feeding locations. I did not provoke the cat and was just doing my job putting trash into the dumpster and it attacked me. The humane society does not provide any kind of good service, and does real harm to not only the quality of life for the cats, but creates a dangerous place for people around these diseased feeding areas.

The people that work here are unsung heroes. Thank you for all that you do.

All of those dogs went to other rescues
No. Not at this time.
I will let you know tomorrow
No they don't. They are a cat and dog adoption center. They are not a Veterinarian.
Call them they will let you use the traps but last I heard they were only doing low cost ones. But give them a call or message them on Facebook.
Go to the lowndes county animal shelter and ask for a trap to trap them if they have any if not tractor suppy sells the real cheap that's where I got mine. A place in Thomasville has a low cost Spay and Neuter program 35 dollars for a feral cat in a trap. You can call them they can answer any other questions you have real nice people I took several there
The humane society is based off income. Foodstamps or any government assistance you pay only $10. To get your furbuddy fixed with rabies shots. Its all done in one day. Drop at 630am pick is 430pm. They will set you up with a date to drop your animal off. Go by office and feel out the paper work, they will inform you of more info there
I don't know right off hand, and why are you asking me because I don't work for them
We do not have ferrets
Lowe's sells fencing easy for 1 person to install and very durable check with your local Lowe's or home Depot
You can call to ask I'm not sure on that one
Not hiring, but they always need volunteers to help with events and fundraising
We went on a Saturday, found out they only accept local checks or money orders. It is a reputable place, but sometimes clerks are not very friendly. It is always good, though to be able to rescue an animal. I really like USA pet rescue at Petsmart on the weekends. They are always friendly and eager to place their animals.
You will need to call or visit them to find out. Sometimes they have too many kittens or adult cats.
Just come to shelter
I want to say yes. I know that they take them to Thomasville in a group like once a month. You need to contact them.
Orientation is on Mondays at 4. You won't need to bring anything specific, but should call and let them know you want to volunteer ahead of time just in case an orientation is cancelled or something like that.
Last I heard, it's not at this time.
Contact the Humane Society's main page on Facebook or call them a call
We can't take in anymore cats at this time. We have reached our capacity.
Yes. Head over to our website, click the volunteer tab, and fill out the form linked at the bottom!
We don't have a vet on staff but we do offer a couple low cost spay/neuter programs. You can check both of them out on our website.
You can check out both of our programs on our website under the "Spay/Neuter Program" tab.
Try the other Humane in Valdosta not the one on Gordan the other one has more dogs.
