This was a great park. Larger trails. So many spots to explore. Worth the 6 dollar entrance fee. Can not wait to come back.

Cool park! Camping spots are a mile hike from the parking lot so plan accordingly! River is nice and seemed pretty calm, water was very refreshing. Disc golf courses are very fun!

Best trails to walk on. If you like pike fishing this is the place to do it, or just float down the river, highly recommend this place to any fisherman

The trails are well groomed and great for any level of experience with hiking, and the trails along the chippewa river give the best views. The camp sites were already active with campers. There is so much to see and to help you feel connected to nature.

Smokey the bear died, he was at Nelson Park, there is now a statue and placard there in his memory.
Bathrooms are closed (currently) and yes places to cook and sit in shade they have a small pavilion. As for bugs I would just suggest bug spray for the mosquitos

To enter the park, you will need either a daily pass or a yearly pass. They have seasonal attendants at the gate most weekends in the spring, but not always during the week. If there is no attendant, you are free to enter. Closer to summer, they will have an attendant daily. Daily pass is $6.00. Yearly pass is $25.00. No. The only thing that exists is a hand water pump and a small out-house with no plumbing
