Okay, so I’m not even a member yet and I’m going to rave about this place. Usually I would wait to leave a review until after I was here for a while, but I had an epic first experience here and felt the need to share for any beginners looking to get into Jiu Jitsu, like I am. I bring in my two year old daughter with me to inquire about information. It was open mat when we walked in. I was instantly invited to roll with someone and three separate people helped watch my two year old as she watched frozen and I practiced with someone. How cool is that? I’m new to Jiu Jitsu so was just kind of experimenting. I ended up hitting my rolling partner in the eye pretty badly and I felt terrible, especially since it was my first time. Literally, one of the baddest looking dudes in the gym (literally looked like Chuck Liddell) came up to me before leaving and said, “Hey don’t worry about that. Everyone messes up. Just start with our beginner classes and you’ll get there in no time.” The guy made me feel right at home, but also gave great advice. It’s definitely an intense environment, but if you can handle that, they are SUPER welcoming to beginners. You also get 7 free classes to see if it’s the right fit. I’ll take the 7 classes, but I’m going to sign up for sure. One of, if not the best first business interactions I have ever had in my life. Can’t wait to learn more.

At the end of the rainbow is the best Brazilian Jiu-jitsu school in the DC area. I've been taking jiujitsu since 2004. When I moved here in 2016, I had a hard time finding a school that matched the intensity and great training of my previous academy in New York ..... until I went to Standard BJJ in Rockville. Greg is one of the best instructors I have ever trained with and easily the best one in the DC area. His students consistently win tournaments and it's easy to see why. It is a great training program, and you get better every time you train (while also getting the best body you've ever had). It's been an honor and a privilege to train at such a great academy with great people.

I miss training here. I used to commute 45 mins each way from VA to train at Standard during lunch for over a year. The instruction is some of the best I've seen in my travels. The lessons you learn here will stick with you forever. Work and family obligations made it too difficult to keep making the trip so I had to switch schools so that I could train in the evenings.

HOLY SMOKES ... just trained with Greg Souders at Standard BJJ. Smartest BJJ coach i have spoken to. Runs a very organized class and is a plethora of knowledge. He does both gi and nogi ... and is a great leg locker (which i want to learn). I am about to transfer from Boston to Washington DC (in the Army) and he let me train for free. Looking forward to joining is gym ASAP Rocky. Thanks Greg ... you're the best brother. Bill
