The atlantic salmon in kajun spices was tasteless. Imperial seafood plate was delicious - clamps, lobster and shrimp were perfectly cooked in a delicious sauce Desert( cake from black and white cookies) was ordinary The red local beer was tasteless, the second one was much better. The grilled cheese sandwich was undone - two pieces of cheese were not melted into each other- daughter ate half of that being very hungry. Stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer - delicious Expected more. Not cheap at all

I waited a long time to come to this place after passing billboards advertising it for years. I finally took the exit and went, only to learn I should have kept driving. Overall, a grave disappointment. It seems they are not aware of both Connecticut State and Federal Laws regarding service animals, nor the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act. I approached the desk openly with my documentation and shared my information about the tiny animal tethered to me in a pouch. After being seated, a most abrasive, harsh and rude waitress came over, redesigned the ADA guidelines and refused to serve me, giving me the choice of either discharging my animal from his trained task and duties, or "get take out". I explained he was trained for symptom recognition and therefore needed to stay attached to my chest to perform this service. She insisted I untether him from me to be placed on the floor beneath the table, basically taking him "off duty" from assisting me. She disregarded everything I said, was unmoved and repeated her option for take out, and I politely explained she was misinformed. I requested a manager to intervene. Upon asking for the manager, she arrogantly replied, "you bet!" The manager came to the table and heard my explanation of the situation, tried to understand it, reviewed my documents and defended his waitress with the excuse of being uneducated in this regard. He initially also attempted to interpret CT law to be different from federal law, but eventually came to an understanding. By this time, after feeling unwelcome, cast out, and discriminated against- we were told we could stay for our meal. I should have left then. Im not sure if it was the food, or having to justify my presence there to this degree that turned my stomach, but this meal mixed with the level of anxiety they gave me was not good. So sad because I had wanted to go there for such a long time, and the decor and vibe of the place is fun and inviting. We ordered prime rib and fried shrimp platters, which came with a nice looking glazed bread and salad. Unfortunately- everything tasted bitter, and I could not eat. It must have been the side order of adrenaline they served me. The two stars are for the replacement waitress I was sent, who was lovely, and the managers attempt to rectify the matter. Sadly disappointing, an apology remains in order.

Chowder Pot doesn't take reservations. You can call and get put on a " wait list" and they'll tell you how long the wait is...but, it's well worth any wait at Chowder Pot...great food!
I don't think they'll give you a recipe, but there's this magical thing call Google. Try it! 🤦🏼♀️
That place is great. Saturday's is their busiest days. The food is top notch. It's always worth the wait for great food!!!!
