We were very fortunate to have discovered Village Walk in our efforts to find a new home for our sister. We had initially researched, telephone-interviewed and then personally visited a number of assisted living / memory care places in the area, and Village Walk distinctly stood out from the others. It became clear that Village Walk was unique – the environment is more vibrant, more participative, more active. There is something going on pretty much all the time, and the community seems to benefit from the energy exhibited by both staff and residents. We continue to be very impressed by the senior team and staff at Village Walk. Together they have developed a positive, caring and collaborative organizational culture which is evident throughout the entire organization. Following a personal tragedy which severely impacted her physical and cognitive abilities, my sister is currently residing in memory care, where she is receiving a high level of personal attention to her physical and cognitive challenges. We are very pleased with our decision to entrust her care to the great team at Village Walk. Update: It’s now been six weeks since my sister moved to Village Walk and I first wrote this review. Since then, the leadership team and staff at Village Walk has continued to impress at every turn. Ann has now received numerous visits by friends and family, and all have come away with a similar impression - Village Walk is gifted with a highly professional team, a strong, positive organizational culture, and a vibrant, fresh, almost “youthful” vibe that hits you when you walk in the door and stays with you. Everyone there goes out of their way to be kind and caring, and after weeks of living with trauma and uncertainty, my sister is finally at peace in her new home. The environment has had a noticeable positive impact on her, both physically and cognitively, and we all are looking forward to better days ahead. Because of my sister’s somewhat advanced healthcare needs (e.g., she is a Type 1 diabetic and is no longer able to administer her own insulin), it was critically important for us to find an assisted-living home that has what is known as an “enhanced care” license. Village Walk possesses this license. In our search for a home for my sister, we visited several other adult homes in the region which also claim to have this license. However we learned that it can be quite subjective in terms of the level of care actually offered by these places. Village Walk truly “walks the talk” when it comes to their ability and willingness to provide enhanced care to their residents. In summary, and speaking for all of my sister’s family and friends, we cannot speak highly enough of Village Walk, and we strongly recommend this wonderful place to anyone who is looking for a truly great place to live!

Everyone in this facility goes above and beyond to make my loved ones happy and comfortable. Would recommend without a doubt. My parents are here over a year. Do yourself a favor and go check this place out. Updated 3/17/2022. Dad is in memory care about a year and a half. The staff moved him up when we were not able to get in due to Covid protocols. He is thriving and doing well as a tribute to this amazing staff❤️

My father is a 2 1/2 year resident of the village walk. My dad has received wonderful care there. The nursing staff has been wonderful. Recreation staff is caring, kind, and compassionate. Through the covid pandemic we as family members and the staff are under tremendous pressure as this is an unprecedented time. The nurses and aides go above and beyond for my dad as he requires medication management. They love him and he knows it!! I am not happy that I can't see my father as much as I would like, but I understand that the village walk is doing what they can to protect their residents. I would say cost wise the village walk is in line if not less expensive than other facilities. My mother was in a different assisted living and I was paying a lot more. In my opinion the village walk is family to us and we appreciate all the measures they have been taking. While they are extreme and I hope they can be relieved soon, I appreciate their communication and loving care they give my dad. I am very proactive in my father's care, sometimes overbearing, and I appreciate that they take that into account and are patient with me. We appreciate our village walk family.💜

Heartfelt CONNECTIONS - A Memory Care Program® means members of our memory care team are trained to provide a specific type of compassionate care that is specifically designed for those with memory impairment. In addition, memory care residents live in safe and secure “neighborhoods” to promote socialization, and to provide each individual residence offers purposeful design touches.

What is the benefit of Memory Care vs. In-Home Care?

Village Walk at Patchogue | Jun 8, 2022

At our community, residents live in a warm and friendly, family-like neighborhood with the safety of 24-hour staffing and the compassionate care of highly trained personnel who implement proven memory care programs that encourage and celebrate remaining abilities. It would be virtually impossible to duplicate this level of round-the-clock safety, sense of community and socialization and specific expertise in Alzheimer’s care by using an in-home care service.

Assisted living gives you the helping hand you need to keep active, engaged and pursue your passions. You’ll receive assistance with the basic activities of daily living, tailored to your specific needs, such as help with bathing, dressing and grooming, medication management and personal maintenance. Nursing homes, on the other hand, are for those with chronic medical conditions or disabilities, who require round-the-clock care and supervision by licensed professionals.
