Being at Sagamore Hill gives a condensed version of Roosevelt's life. It is pretty amazing that Roosevelt was NYC Police Commissioner, Secretary of the Navy, Colonel of the Rough Riders, Governor of NY and then he was placed as Vice-President in Mc Kinley's administration to move him away from the seat of power and he accedes to the presidency when Mc Kinley gets assassinated. The episode about sending out the fleet around the world and asking Congress to pay for its return if it wants the fleet back is still priceless. The estate, on the North Shore of Long Island is very pleasant to walk around in.

Free grounds, house is beautiful from the outside. Must book tour in advance which was disappointing but understandable.

Pro tip: please reserve your tickets on the website before you show up. We drove all the way there not knowing this information so we were not able to get in for the tour. The park ranger cannot sell you a ticket in person. Has to be done from the website. Disappointed that we were not able to get in but the place was very nice and we wish we knew ahead of time.

Dogs are permitted and must be on a 6 foot or shorter leash and under the owner's control at all times.
Behind the museum there is a looping trail follow it down a small hill at the bottom there is a walking bridge that goes over a Creek which is a bird sanctuary with Egrets and ospreys at the end of the bridge walk a little ways and you’ll find a beach on Cold Spring Harbor.
They are booked out into July for inside the house tours. We just toured the grounds.

Back closer to the Long Island Expressway there were chains. Not sure about smaller places like Inns or B&Bs.
Dogs are definitely allowed on the paths. Signs are everywhere on the paths specifically mentioning dogs are allowed on a 6 foot leash. Pet rules are also on the website under the "Plan you visit" tab.

Yes. He is buried nearby. Sagamore Hill is not a place to define his death. But to celebrate his life.
Yes, it is. As well as his second wife. They are actually buried in a small cemetery down the road from Sagamore Hill.
No, the home is open Wed-Sun and you will meed tickets for a ranger guided tour. Best to get them in advance. The ground, however, are open 7 days a week. Hope that answers your question.
The only fee to associated with a visit to Sagamore Hill is for the house tour. It is best to contact the Park's visitor center to find out if the annual pass covers the house tour fee. It may not as the house tours are by reservation.
Tours of the home are run from 10 AM to 4 PM Wednesday through Sundays. It is highly recommended to call ahead to see what times are still available or to reserve in advance.
One of the park rangers there said they were sold out through Sept for the online sales. However if you get there before 10am you will be able to buy tickets for the day. The park rangers also said daily tickets usually sell out between 1030 - noon. We got there at 930 and had no problem
