Being a geriatric nurse and having my mom live with me for 5 yrs it was a difficult decision to have her move into Sunrise but she is well taken care of, happy and safe. And I got to be her daughter again rather than the caregiver.

I had an an appointment with Kris and made sure I was on time. The person that greeted me deserves 5 stars! She was welcoming and enthusiastic shared what was going on with this facility. I feel badly that I don’t remember her name. She said he would be right with me and I should have a seat. I waited no more than 15 minutes. He introduced himself and then ushered me to an outside vestibule. It was cold and not professional. Then he had a sheet of paper in front of him that he was folding, trying to conceal the contents from me. This made me feel very uncomfortable. Then I got the feeling from the conversation since he was talking about the cost that he didn’t want us there. That, in my opinion was strike three. He had no idea what our financial situation is which is fine with me as I have taken my mom to an awesome place somewhere else!!!!

We decided to move our mother from a rehab to Sunrise Assisted Living because they had the enhanced license. She required a high level of physical and medical care and we preferred a more home-like environment to a nursing home. From the time we were able to move her, along with her furniture and personal belongings, she felt so welcome and comfortable. The staff couldn’t have been more warm and welcoming. As a family, the level of support and empathy we received in making difficult decisions and handling issues and arrangements were beyond our expectations. Kris was particularly instrumental in making the transition possible while guiding us through the process. Sadly, our mother’s stay at Sunrise was brief as she succumbed to her heart failure after a few days of admission. We felt so grateful that she made it there, surrounded by her own belongings, we were able to be there to spend time with her in her final days and she felt that she was safe and cared for, as did we during a very emotional time. Sunrise Assisted Living was the best option for our family.
