I didn’t realize how much the instructors here were holding me back until I left. I spent many years riding here, volunteering my time, and bought my current horse from here under the previous management. Buying my horse is why it’s 2 stars instead of one because she is truly my heart horse and has been my solid rock. She has now moved to a different barn as of a year ago and I stopped riding here about 6 months ago. After riding for 20/21 years I would expect to learn training, move forward if I’m on young horses, and have instructors who believe in me. That’s not what I found here. My lessons became ones where I was paying to train the horses, without instruction on how to train. If the young horse took advantage, I was told it was because I wasn’t sitting up (which I was). My instructor now (at a different barn) has taught me how to train, but when I used those techniques at this barn I was told they were wrong and the blame was put back on me and my lack of skill. I was passing on my thoughts on the lessons and was under the incorrect impression that the feedback was passed to the owner. I found out after I left that it stopped at my instructor and the owner was blindsided by the complete lack of satisfaction, instruction, and the amount of time and energy my former instructor has taken advantage of. Leaving here was truly the absolute best thing I’ve done for both myself and my horse
