AS AN OUT OF STATE VISITOR, I WENT THROUGH DELAWARE LAST OCTOBER. I RECEIVED A BILL FOR A TOLL WHICH I PAID BACK THEN. 6 MONTHS LATER I GOT ANOTHER BILL. SOMEHOW IT GOT LOST AND I DIDN'T THINK TOO MUCH ABOUT IT AS I KNEW I HAD PAID IT. I THEN GOT A BILL FOR $56, $6 FOR THE TOLL AND A $50 PENALTY. A NEW VERSION OF HIGWAY ROBBERY. MY WIFE COULDN'T EVEN FIGURE OUT HOW TO USE THE ONLINE PORTAL TO PAY IT. SHE SENT A CHECK. I WILL DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE NEVER TO VISIT, LET ALONE PASS THROUGH DELAWARE AGAIN IF THIS IS HOW THEY TREAT THEIR GUESTS.

Three years ago we moved to North Carolina and tried to close this account. Se tried to close it at least three times on the computer controlled system without success. We actually talked to someone in the EZPass office twice to try to close the account without success. Once covid started we could no longer get anyone on the phone no longer how long we waited. Since we changed banks the credit card on file no longer worked. Charges kept appearing on our account despite the fact that we no longer used the New Jersey Transponder. Apparently EZPass was reading our license plate (or someone used our old transponder) the few times we returned to New Jersey. Recently, our account (for 51.46) was sent to Credit Collection Services (we made some payments when attempting to close our accounts previously but stopped out of disgust). New Jersey EZPass computer programming and telephone customer service is despicably bad. The director should fired immediately. My next step will be to write to the Governor.
