I did a rolling stop at a 3-way stop where I was the only driver in sight. No other drivers were around. Just me. Seconds later, a TPPK SUV comes flying up behind me so fast and stops so close that I thought he was going to rear end me. A super aggressive officer comes up to the window, looking like he’s going to explode and tells me that I failed to stop at a stop sign and he was ticketing me for it. Mind you, the way this officer was driving was far more dangerous than how I was driving. He then wrote me a ticket with two citations, failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to yield, practically the same offense. Only one is necessary. I know this because I am related to 4 police officers, one being a brother. This cop was just on a power trip. I’ve heard so many similar stories about TPPD. Tall bald, white officer probably in his 50’s. I wish I remembered his name. On the flip side, a few years ago when there was a shooting behind my apartment in Long Branch Park, they were very quick to arrive.

It is a shame to have multiple shootings and car vandalism, where a small community served by it’s own local police department. Takoma park police department must review their ability and work flow.

This police department routinely runs a stop sign patrol anywhere on maple avenue. Its literally nothing more than to line the coffers of the department and city of takoma park. They try to blame it on the people who live in the apartment complexs around the stop sign in question. But scouring thru police records and town meeting records there are absolutely no complaints from any residents in that area.
