I see a lot of terrible 1 star reviews for this place but it seems greatly exaggerated. I moved here in 2021 and its been a good place to live. Sometime in 2022 the property was sold and during that transition things did slip, but as time goes on you can tell that they are making an effort to get up to speed. The pros of this place are secured halls (code entry), generally quiet (Essex ave can be loud), cared for grounds, maintenance is pretty attentive, there is a laundry room that takes cards The cons are lots of lights are out around the property so it's very dark at night, the hallways and laundry room need more regular cleaning, & the apartments in general could use some TLC (old windows and doors)

Great location but as a Resident of 2 years, I’m not renewing after the $500 increase in my renewal offer. Previously known as village Green if you’d like to see historical reviews. $1200 for a 2BR in 2020 meant moving into a roach infested, poorly laid out, short apt with improperly painted appliances, dirty (and uneven from just putting it over old tile)vinyl from the maintenance team painting, old AC, no washer/dryer, and of course loud and sketchy neighbors that leave the entrance disgusting with trash, fur balls, and kiss marks on the front door. Outside facing walls are thin as well so you’ll hear all the 436 traffic, sirens every other day, and your neighbors talking outside. No assigned parking but people somehow can’t park properly in the diagonal spots anyway. Maintenance stopped completing requests since they switched systems—hallway light out for months, no more pest control, low water pressure. Also questionable timing of switching systems right at the beginning of the month when rent is due and we had to readd our accounts, probably making some people miss their payments. Now they want $1700 for the exact same thing. No upgrades, no new community amenities, no cleaning crew for shared areas, just more fine threats.

Very noisy, loud, people sneak into the pool areas since the gates do not lock, as I sit here typing I had to call the police because a large group are at the pool (like 15) screaming like animals as I sit here typing this. The owners jacked the rent up $500 all at one time with little notice, the parking lot is destroyed, trash everywhere, there is hardly any parking at the side buildings people park just wherever. (I saw a strange car riddled with bullet holes parked in front of my building the other morning) the windows and doors are 35 to 40 years old, loud cars coming through makes them rattle constantly and you cant keep the apartments cool. Every apartment has at least 3 kids and the mothers let them run wild, I see drug deals every time I take out the trash. This is the worst apartment complex (and worst ran) in the area. DO NOT move here seriously over priced for the ones that actually work and no service almost entirely section 8. Low rent HOOD.

I've only been living here less than a year. Everything started out cool until they changed from Village Green Apartments to " The Essex"...now all of a sudden no one answers the office phone....literally ever...I called 4 days straight during a range of time during office hours and no one picked up. This is new. I have sent emails to their direct email and left messages via voicemail about concerns I was having with my apartment. No responded to date and this has been at least two weeks now. Prior to the transition emails were returned at least within 24-48 hours. Maintenance promises to return to fix certain things in your apartment and then you won't hear from them for days. & It seems there is only 1 maintenance person for the entire complex..was told prior the maintenance man was out for the day..is there only one perron??? They will also not follow up to tell you that things have changed or they would be coming back another day...just nothing... This is a major issue for me. Communication. The grounds have trash thrown around the property now especially in the back behind the patios Before mgt was pretty strict and always sent emails about upkeep expectations like blinds, any trash, and anything regarding how the property looks. Now those emails have stopped. The new owners are also taking part in the inflation of rent prices and are raising rent an addtl $400. I can't imagine paying $1600 for a 1 bedroom with no washer/dryer with mgt/owners with no communication skills or customer service. I've taken the time to look are other apartments near the Altamonte/Orlando at this time and there is definitely better pricing out here currently even with everything going on with the economy. With washer/dryers! Being that prices are increasing...the level of customer service should also increase. I do not want to pay rent to people I can't even get on the phone, respond to emails, handle maintenance issues thoroughly, or upkeep the grounds.
