My fiancé checked himself in while I was at work two weeks ago, I’ve been trying to call them for the last TWO days ( Friday and Monday ) and no one has been answering the phones. I really hope their professionalism is better inside than just picking up the freaking phone. So far I am not impressed.

Hope House Laurel makes a traumatic time for families seeking assistance a nightmare. Their phone admissions team is abrasive, argumentative, and had the nerve to laugh at my family member who I was desperately seeking assistance to get into a treatment facility. After attempting to a do a phone screen for admissions when the individual was obviously in a compromised mental state but still answering their questions and acknowledging on their own free will they were seeking to go to a treatment center, they quickly said they were not qualified and then asked them to get a pen and paper and they would give them somewhere else to call. When I offered to take down the phone number for another facility she said she would not be able to provide it to me and kept aggressively asking the compromised family member to get a piece of paper and pen. I am the primary plan holder for insurance, offered to connect them with their As I continued to cry on the phone just seeking a recommendation, she said I was not allowed to be on the phone. When the family meme we was embarrassed and couldn’t respond, she decided to laugh at him as she hung up the phone. No compassion, no assistance, no resources or even a heart to help a family in a desperate situation.

I’ve checked myself into Hope House laurel twice. Both times really were helpful to me. They can be kind of strict here meaning policing what you wear, no ripped jeans, no tank tops, no shorts, even if it’s the middle of the summer, and you will have your cell phone taken, and can’t bring in any hair products or makeup with alcohol on the ingredient list. And I came here after talking to them in the phone to put an end to my fentanyl and methadone habit. I stopped taking both for 3 days like they told me to but when I came in they still wouldn’t dose me with Suboxone because of precipitated withdrawal even though I was crying, laying on the floor, feeling like I was dying honestly. But these things aren’t that serious and you will have to go through them at ANY treatment center. That’s really the only bad thing I have to say. And when I was here one of the supervisors that watched the patients was really rude but she got fired anyway, and we were allowed to make complaints. They would take us in groups on walks to a park down the street and to a river walking distance from there which really makes you feel free when you’re stuck in a rehab center. The classes could be a little more interesting but I mostly did enjoy my time here both times. I made a lot of friends and met a lot of people who were serious about recovery and have been sober for years afterwards now. They also offer Vivitrol which was also life saving for me.

As someone who's been through similar treatment centers before, in another state mind you, the ease with which I was able to check myself into this facility was truly a blessing. Anyone who's looking for help with a substance abuse issue on any level would be blessed and fortunate to be in a place like this. You only get out what you put in so if you want it, these folks are absolutely here for you! Thank you Hope House for the opportunity to start my recovery!
