Last night, my wife and I - to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary - hosted a Demonstration Dinner here for 21 family, friends, and neighbors. Most guests had not been to the Cooking School, and all of them raved about the experience. Exceeded even our expectations. Senior Chef Ansley and her staff were so accommodating and did a wonderful job. And Clint, the sommelier, really knows how to pair his wines with each course. Publix has 12 of these schools, each located in its own separate space within the pertinent stores. They have both Hands On classes and Demonstration Dinners (where the chefs cook the meal, explain what they are doing, and answer questions). Prices are very reasonable, we think. For the record, this is not a cooking class. This is a cooking demo where you get to eat the finished product. I brought my daughter, who at the time, was 11. The girls at the table next to us were clearly just in it for the wine. They were loud, obnoxious and one girl got so drunk she started throwing up at the table. The food was good, but the evening was disappointing.
