Not a good experience! Let me start by saying this place used to be one of my favorites in Lynchburg. Last night a small group of friends decided to have dinner here. The food was horrible!!! My steak was so burnt I couldn’t eat it, the clam chowder was wayyyy too thick and my potatoes tasted like they we’re instant potatoes. Very bad experience will never dine here again.

We were delighted with Shoemakers in downtown Lynchburg!! The atmosphere was quiet and soothing....loved the jazz playing in the background! Our server was so helpful and friendly!! The food was excellent!! The salmon was cooked to perfection, and our adult son really enjoyed his steak with lobster ravioli. We never felt rushed. Desserts were tasty also.

So, the bar was great. But we didn't get to the food. We just couldn't get that far into the process. Sooo... after about an hour, we had to leave to find sustenance elsewhere. Still not sure where the issue was. But the bar tender seemed to be doing a ton of extra work (like, perhaps other people's work. Just an observation).

Went there for my birthday dinner. The atmosphere was nice. It was a little dark in there but the outdoor seating area was very inviting. Food was wonderful and portions were extremely generous. Our waitress, Payne, was amazing. She was polite, informative, and very nice. She made sure our drinks were full and was checked on us throughout our meal. I will be asking for her when we return.
