I know SO MANY people who really didn't need the help, but got it from these guys. I am about to get evicted because they are so "back logged" they couldn't even help with rent. To me, they're a joke. And they absolutely do not care. And in Glendale there is no other assistance. Sad. Thanks for nothing.

It is difficult for many people to obtain services like the ones CAP offers (Covid-19 or not). There are time sensitive deadlines and personal documentation that is not easy to hold on to, including what causes the most stressful situation to become hopeless, for example Eviction and Utility turn off notices. There are four main CAP offices in Maricopa County AZ, and many more serving populations of a smaller scale. The main barrier is getting that first appointment. You must call on Mondays ONLY begining at 7:30 AM until all slots for the week are filled up; usually by 8:30 AM. This is not the case at the Glendale CAP office. You can come in anytime during normal business hours. Once you have an appointment SHOW UP and bring all the documentation and ID's for your household with you. CAP services are provided 1 time per year to a household in need of EMERGENCY rental and utilitiy assistance. I am unclear about these facts as they pertain to the Glendale office. However I can give the following suggestions from experience. I was able to apply online and I did so knowing that my budget was going to suffer a loss that was out of my hands and I did so to prevent an obvious eviction looming in the near future. I submitted ANY and ALL nessecary documentation as I received it or it was requested (IN PERSON) at the Glendale CAP office where I briefly waited in line and after speaking to employee at window I went to the computer station there right in the lobby area and submitted my updated progress. Then I would receive a confirmation that it went through and the same employee would inform me of what steps needed to be completed next by myself or others. (Example: My landlord) During this process there was a misunderstanding that became clear because of a document I had submitted. I did not need assistance for utilities but in the past I have received financial payments of ALL my due and overdue bills including SRP or APS, Water, GAS, Landline Phone, and Move-in Costs, Deposits, Late Fees, Bills Owed For A Long Time That Needed To Be Paid Before New Services Could Be Turned On, and Etc.. Etc..Etc.. They do it all right in front of you in their office during your APPOINTMENT. As I mentioned before my case was paused while a mistake my landlord made was cleared up. The employees at Glendale CAP office NEVER let me go. I had to go back to them after the fact and they handled it with professionalism and kindness. I am greatful to infinity that I am not homeless today because of their accurate calculations and knowledge of my rights. It was an uncertain time for all of us but I was secure with the knowledge of my future being placed in the right hands. Please don't give up and be patient it is not as easy path to navigate for those of us on this side of the window. I encourage you to go back and figure out what needs to be done because the outcome is worth it for you and your family. It is not the cure all for the year but 1 time a year relief is available and if you truly need it and most of us do don't blow off what comes next. Don't let your pride and the heat make you miss out on this opportunity.

The Help from the Covid Federal Government hasn’t been given to citizens of Glendale. The 211 and many other organizations and web sites provides information about programs to help with mortgage and utility bills. CAP only helped once excusing that was the rule before covid. If help was going to be given only for one month of year of 2020, they should not receive any more funding. When you call and ask for mortgage help they send you to the Arizona Dep of Housing, which is the same process they were doing before the pandemic. They also blame the waiting time due to the high demand of applicants receive every day bt at the end of the day they declined applicants due to their rule of once a year only. Hopefully other City of Glendale will also share their thoughts about if fair city of Glendale is not helping with utilities and and mortgage bt only once in 2020 and 2021.

They will help with owed rent if you received a 5 day notice. I contacted them to help me with move in and I was told no. But call and ask to make sure. Call Monday morning at 9. Keep calling if the line is busy. 6239302460
You could call the number then press option 3 to get the receptionist. 623-930-2460. Shes very nice and helpful. Exsplain that you dont have transportation and could she please let you know what's needed. I do know for any assistance through their office you need the birth certificate for the main person in the household. Social security cards for all people in the house and proof of income for anyone working. If you are on government housing you need a printout from your case worker proving you are on government housing. As far as assistance for move in costs I dont know what else they need. Just ask the receptionist. I'm sure she can let you know what else is needed. The office is closed today for presidents day. They only take people Tuesday-Thursday from 9-3. They do a pre-screening to make sure you have al required documents and then you go on stand by to see a worker or they will make you an appointment. I just went last Thursday for utility help. Hope this helps you.
