Want a rewarding, life-changing volunteer opportunity?! How 'bout one that includes puppy breath, and the smartest goldens and labs you'll ever meet? New Horizons Service Dogs NEEDS volunteers.

I sent in my application, had my house checked out and an interview and waited allmost 3 years. I have PTSD, depression and anxiety. I don't go out with out my husband because being in crowds is a problem without him. Now I'm going through a divorce and will be alone. New Horizon email to say After careful consideration, we do not feel we are able to place a dog with you at this time. This is a difficult decision for us, unfortunately we are not always able to provide a match for every application. I called to find out why and was told they would call me back three days later they called to say that they won't be able to help me with the service dog I should try another organization. I would have checked any stars but you need to check one to post

I have a service dog through this organization and I’m so happy that I do, because of the help from New Horizons Service Dogs I feel more independent and more confident when I’m doing things out in the community because of the assistance I get say in and day out from my service dog. Thank you so much!, for helping me make my independence even stronger.

My adventure started when a friend asked me to go to a fund raiser for New Horizons Service dogs . I was amazed that 20-25 dogs in a room could be so calm and well behaved. Not to mention the testimonials from recipients of these beautiful helpful friends. Fast forward 2 years later after great thought I decided I would be a part of helping raise a puppy. A big commitment, but probably one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself . I picked up my pup Chutney and a week later my husband went back to get sister Trifle. The journey has been full of chaotic days off set by bundles of love. New Horizons team are always there to give advice and the support you need. The rewards of helping to train these beautiful goldens is very satisfying. Trifle is our puppy breeder and chutney will become a helpful boy to a very special forever friend. The hard part was sending him on to further training, there is nothing anyone can say that makes it easy. All I can say for certain is these dogs make you discover the love that can fill up a home. I would encourage anyone to reach out to New Horizons and help give these pups the best start in puppy life they could wish for. A loved pup will grow up to be the best “ forever friend “ to someone who really needs their help. New Horizons is a wonderful organization, passionate about their cause and the mission.
