Please take that slave picture that hangs above the passport door of the wall!! It is very distasteful. Donate it to the African American Museum at Loray Mill.

Staff was helpful and welcoming. I am however baffled by the choice of art hanging front and center in the lobby, placed purposely to draw your eye in its direction. In the year 2022 I cannot fathom why a wall size mural of slaves working cotton fields would be the choice of artwork for any public building. Especially one located in a predominantly black town and staffed almost exclusively by POC. Poor taste doesn’t begin to describe that. Would have rather seen artwork from local black artists on display. To hang it directly where workers must look at it all day is a constant reminder for for them and others of the ongoing hardships and inequality your staff is still facing in this country. I think we can do better than that.
